On May 22nd, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province, in coordination with the People's Committee of Yen Son commune, organized a thematic workshop on "Improving productivity and quality of plum products and orienting the connection of consumption of plum products in Yen Son commune in 2026".

Currently, the late-season plum tree has become the main crop of Yen Son commune with nearly 630 hectares, contributing to increased income and improved living standards for the people. However, the production and consumption process still faces many difficulties such as: small-scale production, unsustainable production and consumption linkages, limited application of science and technology and digital transformation; limited deep-processed products, unstable consumption markets; and many obstacles in building brands, planting area codes, and traceability.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing topics such as: the orientation for sustainable agricultural development linked to the processing industry in Son La province for the period 2026-2030; challenges and opportunities for Son La plum products; new techniques in high-tech plum cultivation to meet export standards; orientation for developing plum production towards safety, organic farming, and sustainability; production linkages along the value chain, promoting deep processing and product consumption; building and developing the "Yen Son Plum" brand; application of science and technology and digital transformation in agricultural production and consumption; and proposals for mechanisms and policies to support production development.

At the workshop, delegates also proposed numerous solutions regarding mechanisms and policies to support production development; support for capital, science and technology, and trade promotion, contributing to improving the productivity, quality, and value of Yen Son plum products in the future.
