Promoting economic diplomacy, the district proactively coordinates with departments, branches and enterprises to promote and introduce the potential for economic development cooperation, proactively promote trade, expand the export and import market of goods and attract foreign investment. Create conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to participate in displaying typical products at events, introducing, promoting and consuming typical and quality agricultural products of the district.

In addition, Song Ma district established a delegation to attend the "Son La - Hua Phan Cultural Tourism Festival" and display, introduce and promote tourism, cultural and OCOP products of the district. Coordinate with Muong Et district, Hua Phan province, Lao PDR to create favorable conditions for businesses and people to buy, sell and exchange goods to serve production and life. Direct specialized agencies to guide and monitor the mango growing model in Muong Et district, with a scale of 1.15 hectares. Currently, mangoes are growing and developing well.
From 2024 to present, the total export and import output of goods with Muong Et district has reached over 5.2 million USD. Song Ma district chaired the meeting with Muong Et district to exchange and evaluate the results of cooperation in various fields and discuss and agree on the direction of cooperation each year.

Song Ma directed functional units to coordinate and organize 7 bilateral patrols; 72 unilateral border patrols, with hundreds of officers, soldiers, militia, and women from border communes participating and organizing 149 patrols and controlling the area. Regularly conduct periodic inspections, update bridge and road data; adjust and repaint marker posts and signs; fill in subgrades and roadside; clear trees and grass; dredge ditches; clean the border road surface and boundary markers.
Lieutenant Colonel Lo Van Tuan, Political Commissar of Muong Cai Border Guard Station, shared: The unit regularly patrols and ensures security in the area; coordinates with Border Guard Company 212, Military Command of Hua Phan Province, Lao PDR to patrol and protect the border and border markers. Maintaining the program "Helping children go to school and foster children of the border guard station", the unit currently adopts 2 children at the station and supports 3 children (1 child from Laos), with a support level of 500,000 VND/child/month and the project "The Army helps children go to school", supporting 19 children, each worth 2.4 million VND/year.
Focusing on foreign affairs, Song Ma district has effectively mobilized investment resources to develop infrastructure, attracting domestic and foreign economic sectors to participate in the socio-economic development process, building a peaceful, friendly and developed border area.
