As the leading agency responsible for advising and implementing protocol work, the Department of Foreign Affairs continuously strives to improve quality and professionalism in the province's foreign affairs.

Leaders of Son La province presented a commemorative gift to the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti.
Mr. Nguyen Van May, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, stated: Identifying diplomatic protocol as a crucial political task, it not only demonstrates hospitality and professionalism but also provides an opportunity to promote the image and potential of Son La to the world. In the first six months of the year, Son La province welcomed 69 delegations and 375 foreign visitors, including 17 delegations with 246 visitors from Laos. The diverse international delegations ranged from high-level diplomatic missions to organizations and businesses, requiring meticulous and thorough preparation in every aspect of protocol, from planning and accommodation arrangements to organizing meetings, tours, and related activities.
The Department of Foreign Affairs also proactively coordinates with the State Protocol Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant units, departments, and agencies to prepare well the conditions for serving delegations from other countries visiting and working in the province. At the same time, it guides agencies and organizations in carrying out diplomatic protocol work according to regulations, demonstrating professionalism and uniformity.
To ensure thorough reception, in addition to understanding the purpose of the delegation's visit, developing a detailed program, and meeting with partners in a way that aligns with the wishes and interests of both sides, the reception and welcoming team must also learn about the culture, customs, traditions, and beliefs of each delegation to provide a thoughtful and respectful welcome that reflects the partner's culture.

The delegation from Son La province attended the 21st border work coordination meeting between Son La province and Hua Phan province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Doan, Head of the Foreign Affairs and Border Department of the Department of Foreign Affairs, said: "When we receive information about welcoming each international delegation to Son La, we begin to thoroughly research their background, purpose of visit, culture, and customs. From there, we prepare the most appropriate reception plans."
Furthermore, officials and staff responsible for receiving international delegations must possess the skills and experience to handle unexpected situations flexibly. They should regularly exchange experiences and learn from each other to improve procedures, enhance their foreign language and communication skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the cultures of other countries.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Mai, a specialist in the Foreign Affairs and Border Affairs Department of the Department of Foreign Affairs, shared: Recently, the Department of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to welcome the Indian Embassy to attend the opening of the Indian Film Festival in Son La city. From the moment we received information about the delegation's eating habits, we quickly worked with restaurants to ensure a full range of vegetarian dishes and fruit juices suitable to the guests' tastes and dietary requirements. These actions demonstrate our deep concern and respect for our partners' culture.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Vietnam and his wife visited agricultural models in Moc Chau town.
With its advantageous natural landscapes and distinctive agricultural products, Moc Chau town regularly welcomes research and survey delegations from international organizations and foreign investors. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Moc Chau town, said: "Whenever we welcome international delegations, the town coordinates with the Department of Foreign Affairs to learn about the nationality, position, and role of each member of the delegation, especially the head of the delegation and other important figures. This helps determine the appropriate protocol, as well as the appropriate forms of address and seating arrangements during meetings and receptions. We also introduce the local culture, OCOP products, and development potential of the town so that the delegations can better understand Moc Chau. At the same time, this opens up opportunities for cooperation and attracts investment, boosting the economic and social development of the district."
The efforts and dedication of officials and staff working in foreign affairs protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs and other units and localities in the province are becoming increasingly refined and professional. This not only contributes to enhancing Son La's position and image internationally but also creates a solid foundation for attracting resources, promoting cooperation, and fostering socio-economic development in the province.
