(vanho.sonla.gov.vn) On December 25th and 26th, a liaison meeting between the three districts of Van Ho, Moc Chau, and Sop Bau took place in Sop Bau district, Hua Phan province (Lao People's Democratic Republic).
In 2023, the three districts of Van Ho and Moc Chau in Son La Province, Vietnam, and Sop Bau District in Xaysomboun Province, Lao PDR, continued to maintain their friendly and cooperative relationship. They effectively implemented the contents of the memorandum of understanding signed by the three districts, promoting the exchange of goods, agricultural and industrial projects, and investments based on the laws of each country. The districts have also collaborated to extensively promote the traditions and cultures of both Vietnam and Laos, creating all conditions for cadres and people from Sop Bau District to receive medical treatment, regular health check-ups, and to exchange information and coordinate disease prevention and control activities in Van Ho and Moc Chau Districts, as well as Son La Province as a whole. The armed forces of the three districts regularly hold periodic meetings, exchange information, and conduct four joint patrols with 96 officers and soldiers participating. The armed forces of Van Ho District conducted 10 unilateral patrols, inspecting the border and boundary markers, with 123 officers and soldiers participating; and 75 patrols and inspections of the area with 412 officers and soldiers participating. Notably, Van Ho District has supported Sop Bau District in building a new classroom, repairing a classroom with four rooms, with a total value of 1.5 billion VND; and guiding and implementing a jackfruit cultivation model for the people of Na Sủn village on a scale of 2 hectares...

In a spirit of solidarity, the leaders of the three districts of Van Ho, Moc Chau, and Sop Bau unanimously signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 2024, focusing on supporting and creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to invest in and develop legitimate economic activities in the locality; strengthening the exchange and learning of experiences in agricultural production and tourism associated with preserving and promoting ethnic cultural identity. The two districts of Van Ho and Moc Chau will continue to send delegations to Sop Bau district to provide medical examinations and treatment for officials and people, and support community health services. They will also strengthen coordination in border security patrols, border demarcation, prevention and timely management of all types of crimes, especially drug-related crimes; and promote and encourage people on both sides of the border to avoid illegal migration and unauthorized entry/exit. Caring for, protecting, and preventing forest fires in border areas… maintaining and strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and between Hua Phan and Son La; ensuring that the three districts of Sop Bau, Van Ho, and Moc Chau remain ever green and sustainable for generations to come.
