On June 25th, in Son La City, the Son La Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment organized a training course for 49 officials from 9 provinces in Northern Laos on techniques for grafting fruit trees and artificial insemination in buffaloes and cattle.
This activity is part of the implementation of the Conclusion of the Standing Committee of Son La Province on foreign affairs in 2025, and also concretizes the contents of the cooperation agreement between Son La province and the high-level delegation of the northern provinces of Laos in the field of agriculture. It is also an opportunity to further strengthen the traditional solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive, long-term cooperation between Son La province and the localities in the region.Northern Laos.
The training course took place over four days, from June 24th to 27th, 2025. During this time, Lao officials gained access to theoretical and practical knowledge on techniques widely applied in Son La province, which have proven effective in agricultural production.
To ensure professional quality,Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La ProvinceExperienced lecturers from Northwest University and Son La College were invited to teach directly. Besides theoretical lessons, the group also participated in field activities, visiting exemplary farming and livestock models in Mai Son district, an area developing many forms of agricultural production applying advanced science and technology.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Tran Dung Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province,Son LaAccording to the statement: “Through this training course, Son La province hopes that officials from the northern provinces of Laos can effectively absorb and apply new techniques to practical production in their localities. These contents can contribute to promoting agricultural and forestry development, exploiting existing potential and strengths, thereby improving people's lives and developing the local economy sustainably.”
He further shared that the Department and specialized units will always be ready to support and answer any questions that Lao officials may encounter during their studies and practical implementation, with a spirit of open cooperation and responsibility.
Agriculture in Laos is still in its developmental stage and faces many challenges, but both the people and the government at all levels are making continuous efforts to improve production methods, enhance efficiency, and improve the lives of the people.

In response to the sincere support from Son La province, Mr. Thong Phun Bun Som Vang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Udomxay province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), expressed his deep gratitude and affirmed his confidence in the strong cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos. He emphasized that Son La has always been one of the Vietnamese localities that has made practical contributions to the agricultural development of the northern provinces of Laos.
In the coming period, the Lao side will continue to develop plans to organize more exchange and experience-sharing activities in Son La, considering these as important steps in developing a sustainable cooperative relationship between the two sides, especially in the fields of agriculture and forestry.
