Ms. Vi Thi Thanh, Vice Chairwoman in charge of the cultural and social fields, People's Committee of Muong Sai commune, Song Ma district, Son La province, is now implementing the policy of reorganizing the local government apparatus at 2 levels. Ms. Thanh is expected to be assigned to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Party Building Committee of the new Chieng Khuong commune, a completely new field, requiring very careful study of directives, resolutions, regulations on organization, cadres, party members, etc.

Ms. Thanh shared that she clearly understood that this was a new job and new knowledge, but she believed that with high determination and a sense of responsibility, she would do well in the assigned tasks.
"Determining the new job, I focused on studying documents and instructions from superiors, on how to perform well and complete all tasks excellently at the new commune unit" - Ms. Thanh said.
Having been attached to the border area of Chieng Khuong for more than 20 years, Mr. Tong Van Viet, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, is now expected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Khuong Commune, in charge of socio-economic affairs. Despite the change in position, his practical experience and in-depth understanding of each village has helped him feel more confident in his new role.

Mr. Tong Van Viet shared that as soon as the two-level local government apparatus comes into operation, he will continue to work with the cadres of the two communes to promote the strengths of each region, focusing on economic development, building new rural areas in border areas and effective production models, such as growing longan and mango on sloping land; promoting trade in goods in the border gate area with Laos.
"With more than 20 years of working experience, I have a good grasp of the local grassroots areas, so in the coming time, I will advise the local Party Committee and government to carry out tasks such as planning new communes; in carrying out tasks, I will advise and coordinate with comrades in the new commune to effectively implement them in the coming time," said Mr. Viet.
The new Chieng Khuong commune was established on the basis of merging Chieng Khuong commune and Muong Sai commune of Song Ma district, with its headquarters located in Chieng Khuong commune. After the merger, the commune has an area of nearly 15,000 km2; more than 26 km of border; a population of over 18,000 people; and more than 50 commune officials.
Chieng Khuong Commune is ready to operate immediately after the announcement date.
After the merger, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, Vice Chairman of Song Ma District People's Committee, is expected to become Secretary of the Party Committee of Chieng Khuong Commune. With his experience in district-level leadership, he and his staff here are determined to lead the new border commune to overcome initial challenges.
According to Mr. Thien, immediately after the merger announcement, the commune will start to reorganize, stabilize staff, and immediately implement tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security.
"With tasks related to the activities of the two-level local government, I have carried out many related tasks, such as focusing on reviewing draft documents related to organizing conferences, such as the Party Committee's Standing Committee, Party Committee's Standing Committee, Party Executive Committee; organizing the first session of the Commune People's Council, and the upcoming meeting of the Commune People's Committee," said Mr. Thien.
