Ms. Vi Thi Thanh, Vice Chairperson in charge of culture and social affairs of the People's Committee of Muong Sai commune, Song Ma district, Son La province, is now expected to be assigned to the position of Deputy Head of the Party Building Committee of the newly established Chieng Khuong commune, a completely new field requiring thorough study of directives, resolutions, and regulations on organization, cadres, and party members.

Ms. Thanh shared that, although she clearly understands that this is a new job with new knowledge, she believes that with high determination and a sense of responsibility, she will do well in the assigned tasks.
"Having identified my new job, I focused on studying the documents and guidelines from my superiors, figuring out how to perform well and excel in all tasks at my new commune unit," Ms. Thanh said.
Having been involved with the border region of Chiềng Khương for over 20 years, Mr. Tòng Văn Việt, the Party Secretary of the commune, is now expected to assume the position of Vice Chairman of the new Chiềng Khương Commune People's Committee, in charge of socio-economic affairs. Despite the change in position, his practical experience and in-depth understanding of each village and hamlet give him added confidence in his new role.

The facilities at the commune's People's Committee headquarters have been cleaned and renovated.
Mr. Tong Van Viet shared that as soon as the two-tiered local government system comes into operation, he will continue to work with fellow officials from the two communes to leverage the strengths of each region, focusing on economic development, building new rural areas in the border region, and promoting effective production models such as growing longan and mango on sloping land; and boosting trade in goods at the border gate area adjacent to Laos.
"With over 20 years of experience, I have a very good understanding of the local communities, so in the coming time, I will advise the Party committee and local government on implementing tasks such as planning for the new commune; in carrying out tasks, I will advise and coordinate with colleagues in the new commune to effectively implement them in the future," said Mr. Viet.
The newly formed Chiềng Khương commune, established by merging Chiềng Khương and Mường Sai communes of Sông Mã district, has its headquarters located in Chiềng Khương commune. After the merger, the commune has an area of nearly 15,000 km2; more than 26 km of border; a population of over 18,000 people; and more than 50 commune officials.

Chiềng Khương commune will be ready to operate immediately after the announcement.
Following the merger, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Ma District, is expected to become the Party Secretary of Chieng Khuong Commune. With his experience in district-level leadership, he and the local officials bring with them a strong determination to lead the newly established border commune through its initial challenges.
According to Mr. Thien, immediately after the merger announcement, the commune will begin reorganizing, stabilizing personnel, and promptly implementing tasks related to socio-economic development, national defense, and security.
"Regarding tasks related to the operation of the two-tiered local government, I have carried out many related tasks, for example, focusing on reviewing draft documents related to organizing conferences, such as the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee; organizing the first session of the Commune People's Council, and the upcoming session of the Commune People's Committee," Mr. Thien said.
