Accordingly, after the rearrangement, Son La province will reduce from 200 communes, wards, and towns to 75 commune-level administrative units, including 67 communes and 8 wards; of which 60 communes and 8 wards will be formed after the rearrangement, and 7 communes will not be rearranged.

The commune of Sông Mã, established by merging Nà Nghịu commune and Sông Mã town, covers an area of over 105,000 km² and has a population of more than 26,000 people. Following its establishment, Yen Chau commune has streamlined its Party and government apparatus to be more efficient and effective, meeting the requirements of managing a large area and a dense population. From June 21st, the commune began a trial run of its commune-level government to refine the process of directing, managing, receiving, and resolving administrative procedures. Implementing a two-tiered local government model, Thuan Chau district has reduced its number of communes and towns from 28 to 10, including: Thuan Chau, Chieng La, Nam Lau, Muoi Noi, Muong Khieng, Co Ma, Binh Thuan, Muong E, Long He, and Muong Bam.
In preparation for the operation of a two-tiered local government model in the communes, Thuan Chau district has developed a plan for assigning district-level and commune-level officials and civil servants to 10 communes, ensuring compliance with standards, conditions, and staffing regulations. A trial run of the commune-level local government's operations is being conducted; priority is given to allocating office space and other facilities, and operating the Public Administrative Service Center, ready to receive and process administrative procedures for citizens and businesses.
For Thuan Chau commune, the merger was based on the following communes and towns: Thuan Chau town, Phong Ly, Thom Mon, Tong Lanh, and Chieng Pac; the headquarters are located at the former Thuan Chau District People's Committee. After the merger, Thuan Chau commune has a natural area of 132.83 km².2The population size is 46,958 people. Previously, from June 24th, Thuan Chau commune had been conducting a trial run of the Public Administrative Service Center; arranging staff, equipment, and facilities to ensure smooth operation from July 1st, 2025.

The name Quỳnh Nhai commune is taken from the name of the former Quỳnh Nhai district, ensuring brevity, memorability, and suitability to the local history, traditions, and culture, and is supported by the local people.

After its establishment, Thao Nguyen ward has a natural area of 53.09 km2 and a population of 22,479 people. Moc Chau ward was established by merging the entire natural area and population of Chieng Hac commune, Moc Ly ward, and Muong Sang ward. After its establishment, Moc Chau ward has a natural area of 167.62 km2 and a population of 21,087 people.

On June 30th, in the communes of Sop Cop district,The main streets were adorned with colorful flags and flowers, creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement ahead of this momentous national event.
Attending the online announcement ceremony in Sop Cop commune were Colonel Chu Van Thanh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, along with a large number of officials, Party members and people in the commune.
Sop Cop District is reorganizing its administrative structure from three levels down to two, merging eight communes into four. Specifically: Sop Cop commune is established by merging Sop Cop, Nam Lanh, and Muong Va communes; Pung Banh commune is formed from Dom Cang, Pung Banh, and Sam Kha communes; and Muong Leo and Muong Lan communes remain unchanged.
After the reorganization, Sop Cop commune has an area of 466 km² and a population of over 24,000 people. The commune's offices are temporarily located at the former headquarters of the District Party Committee, District People's Council, and District People's Committee. From June 24th to 28th, the commune conducted a trial run, ensuring that all necessary staff, equipment, and facilities were in place. By June 30th, 100% of officials, Party members, and civil servants were ready to operate the two-tiered government model.

The To Hieu Ward Party Committee has 93 subordinate party organizations, with over 5,000 party members. The ward Party Committee headquarters houses the offices of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and other political and social organizations of the City. With the trust and expectations of the people, the two-tiered administrative organizational model will become more streamlined, effective, and efficient, meeting the requirements of modern governance and serving the people even better.

Chieng Hoa commune was established by merging Chieng Cong, Chieng An, and Chieng Hoa communes. It has a total natural area of over 29,402 hectares, 3,306 households, and over 17,078 inhabitants. Prior to this, the commune had conducted a trial run of the model since June 23rd, and arranged staff, equipment, and facilities to ensure smooth and efficient operation from July 1st.

At exactly 7:30,Sharing in the joy of the 75 newly established communes throughout the province, all cadres, Party members, and civil servants of Mai Son commune were present at the commune's central hall to attend the announcement ceremony via online connection with renewed spirit and enthusiasm.
Attending the meeting via video link from Mai Son commune were Comrade Duong Tu Anh, Secretary of the Sop Cop District Party Committee (Director of the Department of Justice, from July 1, 2025); along with a large number of officials, Party members and people of Mai Son commune.
From July 1st, Mai Son district officially ended its district-level administration and reorganized its commune-level administrative units into 8 units. This included the establishment of Mai Son commune with an area of 164.4 km² and a population of 52,361 people, based on the merger of Hat Lot town (13.7 km², 19,356 people), Hat Lot commune (57.04 km², 11,139 people), and Co Noi commune (93.66 km², 21,866 people). The Mai Son commune headquarters will be located at the former Mai Son district headquarters.
Immediately after the decision was announced, officials, Party members, and civil servants of Mai Son commune officially began operating the two-tiered government model. Prior to that, from June 23-26, the commune conducted a trial run, deploying sufficient staff, equipment, and facilities to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
The announcement ceremony will be held at the Mai Son commune location.
