The Khang ethnic group accounts for 0.75% of the total population of Son La province, with nearly 10,000 people. They are one of the minority ethnic groups with many unique cultural features, including traditional festivals, folk songs, and folk dances that reflect their distinct ethnic identity, preserved to this day. Among these, the Tang Bu dance stands out, a unique dance depicting agricultural production and daily life activities of the people.
In addition, there are many unique traditional rituals and festivals such as the Pang Á Tea Ceremony, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2023. There is also the Rice Wine Festival, a traditional ceremony that embodies many distinctive cultural features of the people. These festivals are held at the beginning of spring, with unique rituals and a common meaning: to thank ancestors, Mother Nature, and to pray for a new year of favorable weather and a bountiful harvest. With its unique characteristics, the culture of the Khang people is adding a distinctive touch to the colorful cultural tapestry of the ethnic groups of Son La.
