The Provincial People's Committee held a working meeting with the delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD).

Attending the meeting were Mr. Herve Conan, Director of AFD Vietnam; representatives of the leaders of departments and agencies of Son La province, and the People's Committees of To Hieu, Chieng Sinh, and Chieng An wards.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged and discussed the "Improving Urban Infrastructure to Respond to Climate Change" project, funded by ODA loans from the French Development Agency (AFD), with a total investment of 970 billion VND. The project is being implemented in the wards of Tô Hiệu, Chiềng An, Chiềng Sinh, and Chiềng Cơi, aiming to comprehensively address issues related to flood control and urban drainage; improve the environment and air quality; treat wastewater; protect the water environment; proactively respond to climate change; and create a foundation for green, rapid, and sustainable urban development in the future.

The delegation from the French Development Agency highly appreciated Son La province's efforts in implementing the projects. They also pledged to continue working alongside the local government in project implementation.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully thanked AFD for its support of the project and expressed his hope that AFD would continue to support Son La in its implementation. He affirmed that Son La province would create the best possible conditions for the project's implementation. He also requested that relevant departments and agencies promptly organize the appraisal and submit proposals to the Provincial People's Committee for approval of the adjusted investment policy for the project in accordance with regulations. The ODA Project Management Board will take the lead and closely coordinate with provincial departments and agencies and related units to prepare, submit for appraisal, and advise the Provincial People's Committee on the approval of the feasibility study report and the environmental impact assessment report, ensuring compliance with regulations and adherence to the project schedule.
