On August 1st, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Son La province held a meeting to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of the State Management of Religion sector (August 2nd, 1955 - August 2nd, 2025).
The meeting was attended by leaders from several relevant departments and agencies; religious organizations; and officials and civil servants who have worked in state management of religion over the years.

The delegates reviewed the 70-year tradition of building and developing the state management sector on religion; the process of establishment and growth of the provincial religious sector and the state management system on religion in the province.
The Vietnam Buddhist Association of Son La province presented flowers to congratulate the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.
Over the past 70 years, the State Management Department for Religion in Son La province, under the leadership of the Government's Religious Affairs Committee, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and in coordination with various departments and agencies, has effectively advised on policies and guidelines regarding beliefs and religions. Specifically, the department has advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on the effective management of religious organizations and affiliated religious organizations within the province; promptly assessed and submitted to competent authorities for approval the establishment of affiliated religious organizations when they meet the legal requirements, thus fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of religious followers. To date, the province has five affiliated religious organizations: the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Son La province; Son La City Parish, Moc Chau Parish, Muong La Parish, and the Representative Board of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (Northern Region) in Son La province.
In coordination with relevant agencies, the Provincial People's Committee was advised to consider and permit religious organizations to build places of worship in the province in accordance with the law. The Party Committee and local authorities of communes and wards were directed to survey and conduct assessments and grant certificates to 37 Protestant groups that were approved for concentrated religious activities. The Committee proactively advised on organizing meetings with religious leaders, officials, and influential figures in the province. Through these meetings, affiliated religious organizations and followers in Son La province joined hands with Party committees and local authorities at all levels to donate and provide charitable support to people in difficult circumstances and those affected by natural disasters and epidemics.
Officials and civil servants who have worked in state management of religion throughout different periods presented flowers to congratulate the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion.
Speaking at the meeting, the leader of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions congratulated the staff on their growth and acknowledged the achievements of the state management team on religion in the past period. At the same time, he called on religious organizations in the province to continue to propagate and encourage religious leaders, officials, and followers to strictly comply with the law in religious activities. They should proactively and actively participate in social activities, encourage believers to participate in patriotic emulation movements, build a cultural life in residential areas; preserve and promote the good cultural and moral values of the nation and religion.
