VOV.VN - The streetlights built and donated to families receiving preferential treatment and the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs in Yen Son border commune, Son La province, are a heartfelt gesture and a special gift of gratitude from the youth of various units to their ancestors.
Over two days (August 1st and 2nd), the Youth Union of Chieng On Border Guard Station, the Youth Union of Yen Son Commune, Son La Province, and the Youth Union of VOV Northwest, along with benefactors, jointly organized the program "Lighting up the border region - following in the footsteps of our ancestors".
The lampposts were built and donated to families eligible for government assistance.
Officers, soldiers, and youth union members from various units have constructed 25 streetlights using solar power systems, donating them to 24 families receiving preferential treatment and installing them at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs in Yen Son commune, Son La province.

The total value of the program was nearly 35 million VND, mobilized from social funding sources and contributions from officers, soldiers, and youth union members of the units.
This is a meaningful activity, aiming to express gratitude to families of war invalids and martyrs on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025); to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); and to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The family of Mr. Dinh Van Phung, from Cho Long village, Yen Son commune, received a heartfelt gift from various organizations and benefactors.
The lights illuminating the border region also represent the joint efforts of border guards, agencies, units, and philanthropists from all over the country... contributing alongside local Party committees, authorities, and people in the Son La border region in building new rural areas; developing the economy and society; and maintaining security and order in the border area. Especially, it strengthens the solidarity and close bond between the military and the people on the borderland of the Fatherland.
