Through review,Son LaThere are currently 13 border communes with nearly 36,000 primary and secondary school students, and more than 2,000 teachers. However, to date, these communes do not have boarding schools; many semi-boarding schools are still limited and do not meet the learning needs well. Therefore, investing in building a system of inter-level boarding schools is identified as an urgent requirement, contributing to ensuring fairness in access to education, improving the quality of teaching and learning, reducing the dropout rate and creating conditions for ethnic minority children in border areas to study and develop comprehensively.
Recently, Son La province has organized working groups led by provincial leaders to directly survey the terrain, location and traffic conditions in 13 border communes. On that basis, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to build13 inter-level boarding schoolsin the communes: Muong Leo, Sop Cop, Muong Lan, Chieng Khoong, Muong Hung, Chieng Khuong, Phieng Pan, Yen Son, Phieng Khoai, Long Phieng, Long Sap, Chieng Son and Xuan Nha.
Of these, 11 schools will be completely newly built; 2 schools are expected to be renovated and upgraded. The total estimated investment demand is nearly 2,700 billion VND. Each school will have 30 classrooms, serving about 1,000 students.
At the meeting, the Department of Education and Training, together with departments, branches, and People's Committees of border communes, focused on discussing and proposing solutions to remove difficulties and speed up the completion of documents for early implementation of construction. Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet emphasized: The construction of a system of inter-level boarding schools in the provincesborder communeis a major policy, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party and State for particularly difficult areas. This is not only an important political task but also an opportunity to invest in our current and future generations of students.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet suggested that departments, branches, and People's Committees of border communes need to pay special attention and prioritize these projects, focus on leadership and direction, promptly complete the planning, and fully prepare conditions for investment and construction implementation.
Tospeed up, The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Office of the Provincial People's Committee to set up a Zalo group including the Chairman, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Directors, Deputy Directors of relevant departments, Secretaries, Chairmen of People's Committees of border communes... to regularly update, exchange and grasp the situation.
Departments and branches urgently review the work contents related to each area of responsibility, clearly determine the order of priority: which work needs to be done first, which work needs to be done later. The People's Committees of communes fully list specific tasks, make implementation plans for each content.
