VOV.VN - The policy of investing in building primary and secondary schools in border communes has been quickly and synchronously implemented by Son La province, receiving support and expectations from a large number of officials, party members and people in border communes.
Muong Lan border commune currently has 2 general schools, with a total of 88 classes and nearly 2,500 students. Due to the large area and divided terrain, the study and daily life of many students are affected. The proposal to build an inter-level school has brought many expectations to those born and raised in this borderland.
Ms. Tong Thi Quyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Lan Commune, Son La Province shared: "As a native of Muong Lan who was born and raised here, I also attended junior high and primary school classes, but the distance to school is quite far, so I also have high hopes that there will be inter-level schools in the area, especially boarding schools for children to go to school without hardship; especially in the highland villages, it is quite difficult when the children who go to school now all go to boarding schools, far from the schools, especially junior high school students".
Working delegation of Son La province surveyed the site for building inter-level schools in border communes.
Son La province has more than 270 km of border, stretching across 13 communes, which are areas of strategic significance in ensuring national security. According to the review, there are nearly 36,000 primary and secondary school students studying here, most of whom have to travel far, learning and living conditions are still difficult, schools have not met the boarding needs of students.
Teacher Doan Thi Thu Hang, Principal of Nam Lanh Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Son La province said: "With the attention of the Party and the State, the school is very proud and honored. The children will receive more attention and enjoy more policies. This is also a driving force to contribute to the development of local education."
Implementing Notice No. 81 of the Politburo on the policy of investing in building schools for border communes, as soon as the policy was issued, Son La province conducted a review and assessment in 13/13 border communes.
Of the 13 inter-level schools, it is expected that 11 will be newly built and 2 will be renovated and upgraded. Each school is designed to serve 1,000 students or more; the average land use area is 5 hectares/school, with synchronous and modern facilities, meeting the living and studying conditions of boarding and semi-boarding students in remote areas. The total investment is estimated at 2,700 billion VND.
Mr. Quang Van Lam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Son La province said: "Implementing the policy of the Politburo, in the past time, with the responsibility of the sector, the Department has coordinated with related departments and actively advised the Provincial People's Committee in selecting locations to build boarding schools for border communes. For Son La, there will be 13 communes that will be invested in construction, the Department will also continue to work with the sectors to strive to have the content of the policy and steps to strive so that in the coming time, students can live and study in the new school".
The new schools in the Son La border area in the future will contribute to implementing ethnic policies, improving people's knowledge and human resource quality, creating a source of local ethnic minority cadres, contributing to strengthening national defense and security, and improving the material and spiritual life of people in border areas.
