In recent days, heavy rains and floods have caused serious consequences in several localities in the province, such as Chieng Khuong, Song Ma, Muong Lam, Huoi Mot, Chieng So, etc., resulting in significant losses for the people. For example, on August 1st, in Quyet Thang village, Chieng Khuong commune, due to rising floodwaters, six people were trapped far from the shore, their lives in danger. At that time, the water was deep and flowing rapidly, making access very difficult. Fire and Rescue Police officers used ropes and life jackets and deployed a rescue team, swimming 300 meters through the fast-flowing floodwaters to reach and successfully rescue the six people trapped for many hours in the flooded area.
Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Phu, Deputy Head of the Elite Special Firefighting and Rescue Team, who directly participated in the rescue operation in Chieng Khuong commune, said: "Immediately after arriving at the scene, I and my colleagues in the unit quickly deployed rescue measures. Although the floodwaters were rising high at that time, I thought that we had to rescue people as quickly as possible and bring them to safety."

They also coordinated fire safety awareness campaigns at 9 locations, with 1,756 participants; and signed commitments to ensure fire safety with 340 establishments. In addition, they have replicated exemplary models and advanced examples in the nationwide fire prevention and rescue movement. This includes establishing 217 models of safe neighborhood fire groups; 164 public fire-fighting points; and 5 models of "Model Markets ensuring fire safety and rescue."
