From August 18th to 21st, the 2025 Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship took place at the Khanh Hoa Sports Competition Service Center in Khanh Hoa province.

Athlete Bac Thi Khiem (podium number 1) won the gold medal and athlete Lem Thi Thao (podium number 3, first from the right) won the bronze medal in the 67kg weight category.
The tournament attracted over 370 domestic and international martial artists from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and host country Vietnam. The athletes competed in sparring events (U14, U17, and senior categories) as well as Poomsae (standard and creative categories). The Vietnamese team participated with a strong contingent of 115 members.

Athlete Luong Thi Hai Yen won the gold medal in the 46kg weight category.
After three days of intense competition, the Vietnamese sports delegation had a successful tournament, securing first place overall with a total of 125 medals, including 43 gold, 36 silver, and 46 bronze. This impressive achievement was largely thanks to the contributions of the Vietnam 1 team, which won 32 gold, 14 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Vietnam 2 finished second overall with 11 gold, 19 silver, and 23 bronze medals.

Boxer Nguyen Duc Trung won the gold medal in the 45kg category.
Contributing to the overall success, martial artists from Son La achieved impressive results with 4 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. Specifically, martial artists Nguyen Duc Trung (45kg category), Hoang Thi Thu Huyen (44kg category), Luong Thi Hai Yen (46kg category), and Bac Thi Khiem (67kg category) all won gold medals; martial artist Lem Thi Thao won a bronze medal in the 67kg category.

Immediately after the tournament concluded, the martial artists continued to participate in the 21st International Taekwondo Club Championship from August 22nd to 25th, with the participation of over 350 athletes from 8 countries. This is an important tournament for the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Taekwondo team to assess their strength ahead of the 33rd SEA Games.
