Son La - The atmosphere of Independence Day on September 2nd in Long Sap border commune (Son La province) is even more vibrant with the shared joy of people from neighboring Laos.
Long Sap commune currently has 22 villages, with 6 ethnic groups living together, and over 30km of border and international border gates directly connecting with neighboring Laos.

Therefore, on every National Day, this place is not only a celebration for the local people but also an opportunity to strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
According to our reporter's observations, on September 2nd, thousands of locals and tourists flocked to the Long Sap commune stadium, amidst the vibrant colors of H'Mong men and women, creating a festive atmosphere for Independence Day.

This included the participation of a delegation and people from Sop Bau district, Hua Phan province (Lao People's Democratic Republic).
Ms. Thào Thị Dua from Phiêng Cài village said: “On this day, everyone chooses their most beautiful dresses to wear to the market and have fun. The H'Mông community from neighboring areas also gather here to celebrate Tet. The atmosphere is very lively and bustling. This is an opportunity for us border people to meet, interact, and become even more connected to our homeland and international friends.”

Amidst the rhythmic drumming, folk games such as tug-of-war, tu lu, throwing the ball, and pounding sticky rice cakes, along with unique cultural performances by the H'Mong, Thai, and Khơ Mú ethnic groups, unfolded to the cheers and applause of numerous tourists and locals.
In particular, the graceful Lam Vong dances in the cultural program created a highlight, expressing the close fraternal feelings between the two ethnic groups.

Ms. Jounny SingLueXay, an officer of the 214th Border Guard (Laos), shared: “Every year, the atmosphere of the National Day on September 2nd in Long Sap is very vibrant. Participating in the activities makes us feel like we are attending a festival in our own homeland. These kinds of exchanges further strengthen the Vietnam-Laos relationship.”
