It is currently the main longan harvest season in Son La, with an estimated output of about 200 thousand tons.
As for longan, the locality is currently in the main harvest season. In 8 months, the total harvested longan output was 97,500 tons; worth 1,125 billion VND, reaching nearly 63% of the yearly plan; of which about 62 thousand tons were processed, the rest was consumed for fresh fruit domestically.
The selling price of fresh longan fruit is from 10,000-15,000 VND/kg; raw longan to process longan is from 5,000-9,000 VND/kg.
Deep processing is one of three forms of fruit product consumption in Son La.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee, said that Son La longan crop this year is good; output may increase by about 50 thousand tons compared to the initial estimate.
Therefore, the province is resolutely implementing many solutions to promptly consume longan products and other main-season fruit trees for people, limiting congestion during the harvest season.
Son La strawberries and crispy persimmons will be harvested in the last months of the year.
One of the key solutions that Son La focuses on is promoting trade promotion, inviting businesses and cooperatives to participate in investment, trade and tourism promotion programs organized by the central government and localities; organizing working groups to support businesses and cooperatives to connect and expand agricultural product consumption markets in key domestic and foreign markets...
"Son La has so far brought plum and strawberry products onto international flights; in the near future, we will continue to bring longan products onto flights, especially new products such as golden longan. Although not yet produced in large quantities, Son La golden longan is a testament to the application of science and technology in production. In addition, the province will continue to bring agricultural products to supermarket systems and retail markets nationwide and focus on deep processing, striving to successfully complete the target of consuming agricultural products in 2025," said Mr. Cong./.
