In September, travel enthusiasts turn their attention to the Northwest region, where the terraced rice fields begin to turn golden. Son La is an ideal destination for travelers from all over to fully enjoy the beauty of this "golden season."
Ta Xua in Son La province is a remote highland commune in Northwest Vietnam, primarily inhabited by the Mong ethnic group. Known as the "Cloud Paradise," it boasts stunning scenery. Situated at an average altitude of approximately 1,600 meters above sea level, its year-round cool climate is often compared to the "Da Lat of Son La." Throughout Ta Xua commune, visitors can easily encounter and admire the dreamy sea of clouds, gaze at the solitary tree near Wind Peak, immerse themselves in the lush green meadows teeming with wildflowers, and especially admire the terraced rice fields turning golden in the harvest season.
Nestled beneath the sea of clouds in the paradise of Ta Xua are the breathtakingly beautiful terraced rice fields. During the rice harvest season, the undulating fields are covered in a golden hue, shimmering in the sunlight, and the white clouds drift lazily by, creating an incredibly magical scene. The best places to admire the terraced rice fields are the road to Chong Tra village (where the Dinosaur's Backbone is located), the center of Ta Xua commune overlooking the cloud valley, and from Cheu village.
Xim Vang is a commune located right next to the cloud paradise of Ta Xua. The majestic natural scenery, blended with the gentle sound of flowing water from the mountains, creates a wild yet very poetic atmosphere. The local people are very skillful in shaping the terraced rice fields, "shaping" the fields into circular or arc shapes to suit the undulating hills and mountains.

The terraced terraces, like the voice of the local people, invite visitors to come and learn about the customs, traditions, festivals, scenic spots, and culinary delights of the ethnic communities. Still retaining its pristine beauty, this place is an attractive destination for tourists who want to experience and explore the simple, rustic beauty, reflecting the warm hearts of the people of Son La.

The Golden Season of Ngoc Chien
Ngoc Chien commune is located at an average altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level. It is an ideal destination in autumn – the most beautiful season of the year, with terraced rice fields covered in a golden hue when the harvest season arrives, along with the New Rice Festival – the biggest festival of the White Thai people here.
In Ngoc Chien, visitors can immerse themselves in natural hot springs in winter with temperatures ranging from 35-50 degrees Celsius, admire the pristine white blossoms of the Sơn Tra flower forest in Nam Nghep village (the highest village in Vietnam), the vibrant Tớ Dầy flowers in spring, the vast fields of Chi Pâu flowers on the 2,979m high Ta Chi Nhu peak surrounded by clouds, and marvel at the thousand-year-old Pơ Mu tree. Standing on the summit of the "Heaven's Gate," visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic Northwest mountains and forests. Additionally, visitors can participate in the Gầu Tào and Xên Mường festivals and savor the unique local cuisine.
