(qdnd.vn) - On January 20th and 21st, in Muong Sai and Chieng Khuong communes, Song Ma district, Son La province, the Chieng Khuong Border Gate Border Guard Station (Son La Provincial Border Guard) coordinated with the "Friends of Hanoi" volunteer group and local Party committees and authorities to organize the "Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the People" in 2024.

Donating bicycles to underprivileged students who excel in their studies.
Within the framework of the program, many meaningful and practical activities took place, such as: Chung cake wrapping contest, pounding sticky rice cake, cultural exchange, folk games, free medical check-ups and medicine distribution for local people...
At the event, the organizers presented 500 gift packages (each worth 700,000 VND) containing daily necessities to disadvantaged people in 12 villages of Muong Sai commune, Song Ma district; donated 5 tons of rice, 1,000 warm jackets, and 500 blankets to people and students; donated 100 bicycles (worth 130 million VND) to poor students who have strived to overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies; and donated 20 solar-powered streetlights worth 70 million VND to villages without street lighting systems.

In addition, the organizing committee also presented 50 gift packages to families receiving government assistance and families in difficult circumstances in the Dan village cluster, Muang Et district, Huaphanh province, Laos. The total cost of these activities was nearly 800 million VND.

These gifts demonstrate the spirit of mutual support and sharing, helping students and people in difficult circumstances have a happier, more fulfilling, and warmer Tet holiday; and at the same time, further strengthening the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in general, and Son La province and Huaphanh province in particular.
