Immediately after the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year, Son La Medical College meticulously prepared to welcome Lao students. On September 19th, the school arranged three buses to pick up over 70 Lao students who had just completed their Vietnamese language training program at Son La College. Volunteer student teams were deployed to assist with luggage transportation, guide students to settle into their dormitories, and explain the rules and regulations for studying and living at the college.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Chung, Head of the Student Management and International Cooperation Department at Son La Medical College, said: This year, the school has welcomed 74 new Lao students to study in three college-level training programs: Pharmacy, Nursing, and Midwifery. To facilitate their studies and daily life, the school has arranged separate dormitories, organized a communal canteen, and fully implemented all policies and regulations. During the first week of enrollment, the school will conduct orientation sessions, introduce the training program, and disseminate some legal information to the students.

Studying far from home in Son La, many Lao students face language barriers and challenges with daily routines. However, with the enthusiastic support of teachers and fellow students at the school, they quickly adapt to the new environment. Kha Na Ta Mon, from Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, shared: "Son La Medical College has good facilities, providing me and my classmates with comfortable learning and living conditions. I feel very fortunate to receive such enthusiastic and warm support from Vietnamese teachers and friends. From this learning environment, we strive to study well, acquire knowledge and experience, so that we can return to work and contribute to our homeland, Laos."
Currently, Son La Medical College is training over 240 Lao students. The school has continuously innovated and improved the quality of its teaching, integrating theory with practice. Experienced teachers are assigned to impart knowledge, and the school invests in numerous visual models and modern equipment. It also collaborates effectively with medical facilities to provide students with opportunities for practical training. As a result, every year, 100% of Lao students graduate and meet the job requirements at medical facilities upon returning to their country.

Ms. Tu Thi Nhuong, a lecturer in Pharmacy at Son La Medical College, shared: "Most of the Lao students studying at the school are very diligent and conscientious. However, some of them have limited Vietnamese language skills, especially in medical terminology. Therefore, we are always meticulous in our teaching process, increasing interaction and communication with students; paying attention to and listening to their concerns, and creating the best conditions for Lao students to acquire knowledge and skills, thereby improving the quality of their studies."
Every year, Son La Medical College focuses on coordinating with other units to organize many cultural, artistic, and sports activities, as well as exchange events during the traditional Bunpimay New Year; giving gifts to encourage and visit Lao students with difficult circumstances... helping Lao students and Vietnamese students to further strengthen their bonds and promote the special friendship between the young generations of the two countries.
