Immediately after the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026, Son La Medical College has carefully prepared conditions to welcome Laotian students to enroll. On September 19, the school arranged 3 cars to pick up more than 70 Laotian students who had just completed the Vietnamese language training program at Son La College to enroll at the school. Volunteer student teams were deployed to support luggage transportation, guide international students to settle in the dormitory, and disseminate rules and regulations in studying and living.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Chung, Head of Student Management - International Cooperation Department, Son La Medical College, said: This year, the school has received 74 new Laotian international students to study in 3 college training majors, including: Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery. To create favorable conditions for students in the process of studying and living, the school has arranged separate dormitories, organized a communal kitchen, and at the same time, fully implemented the policies according to regulations. In the first week of admission, the school will carry out the first political activities of the course, disseminate to students about the training program, and propagate some legal contents.

Far from home to study in Son La, many Lao students encounter language and living habits difficulties, but with the enthusiastic help of teachers and friends at school, Lao students quickly integrate into the new environment. Kha Na Ta Mon, from Xieng Khouang province, Lao PDR, shared: Son La Medical College has good facilities, helping me and my friends have comfortable learning and living conditions. I feel very lucky to receive enthusiastic and warm help from Vietnamese teachers and friends. From this learning environment, we try to study well, acquire knowledge and experience, to return to work and contribute to our homeland Laos.
Currently, Son La Medical College is training over 240 Laotian students. The school has constantly innovated and improved the quality of teaching theory combined with practice, assigned experienced teachers to impart knowledge, invested in many visual models and modern equipment; coordinated well with medical facilities to create conditions for students to practice. Thanks to that, every year, 100% of Laotian students are recognized as graduates and meet the job requirements at medical facilities when returning home.

Teacher Tu Thi Nhuong, Pharmacy lecturer, Son La Medical College, shared: Most of the Lao students studying at the school are very hard-working and have good awareness. However, some of them have limited Vietnamese language skills, especially medical terminology. Therefore, we are always meticulous in the teaching process, increasing interaction and communication with students; caring, listening to their thoughts and creating maximum conditions for Lao students to acquire the best knowledge and skills, improving the quality of their studies.
Every year, Son La Medical College coordinates with other units to organize many cultural, artistic, and sports activities, exchange sessions on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year; giving gifts to encourage and visit international students with difficult circumstances... helping Lao and Vietnamese students to have more connections, promoting the special friendship between the young generations of the two countries.

Student Minh Ma Ny Khay Muc, class K12 of Pharmacy College, expressed: After 2 years of studying in Son La, I have gained many new experiences. Especially during the traditional Bunpimay New Year, the school helped Lao students to celebrate a warm and meaningful New Year away from home. The care of teachers and friends is the motivation for us to try our best to study and practice well so that we can return to serve our homeland and at the same time be a bridge to further foster the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
Over the past 50 years, Son La Medical College has trained over 1,200 medical staff for the provinces of Laos. Many students after graduating have returned to the country to develop their capacity, have solid expertise, and master professional skills, and are the core to promote the development of the medical career, care for and protect people's health, contributing to connecting and fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Son La province and the provinces of Laos in particular.
