If you're dreaming of a trip to the Northwest mountainous region with its majestic yet picturesque mountain scenery, then Ta Xua (in Son La province) is a destination you can't miss.
If you're dreaming of a trip to the Northwest mountains with their majestic yet poetic scenery, then Ta Xua (in Son La province) is a must-visit destination. Known as the "cloud paradise" of the Northwest, it's often associated with cloud-hunting, but few realize that from May to October, Ta Xua is as beautiful as something straight out of a fairy tale.
These days, wildflowers bloom everywhere, the mountains and forests are lush green, every road seems covered in shimmering green silk, and clouds drift lazily, making everyone feel as if they have wandered into a fairyland. Despite being a "hot" destination in recent years, Ta Xua still retains its pristine, wild, and surprisingly peaceful beauty.

According to Khuc Thi Hanh (Son La), Ta Xua captivates visitors not only with its beautiful scenery but also with its friendly, enthusiastic, and hospitable people. For her, the period from May to October is when Ta Xua is at its most vibrant.
Visiting Ta Xua these days, any angle can create vibrant and poetic photos. You don't need to be a professional photographer; with just a phone and an eye for beauty, anyone can easily capture stunning photos for social media.

According to Khuc Thi Hanh, when visiting Ta Xua this season, don't forget to visit the grasslands. Here, the rolling hills covered in windy grass make you feel like you've wandered into a European highland.
The solitary tree of Ta Xua – a distinctive symbol of this region – is also an impressive check-in point. Along the way, you can stop anywhere, from a breezy bend in the road to a patch of wildflowers by the roadside, and even the slopes are very picturesque.

In particular, wildflowers in Ta Xua bloom abundantly in the summer; simply standing next to the flowers with the lush green mountains and forests in the background is enough to create a stunning, Instagram-worthy photo.
Although summer is when Ta Xua is at its greenest, it's also when the weather is most unpredictable. Rain can come suddenly, but it's usually at night, and during the day, if it rains, it's only short showers. Importantly, it doesn't rain at all the check-in spots at the same time, so you can flexibly move around to "avoid the rain and enjoy the sunshine." It is this unpredictable weather that gives Ta Xua its unique beauty.

To fully experience Ta Xua, Ms. Hanh advises that a 2-day, 1-night trip is sufficient as there aren't too many check-in points. Those with more time can opt for a 3-day, 2-night trip to avoid rushing, allowing for more relaxation and sightseeing. Ta Xua isn't too far or difficult to reach, only about 240km from Hanoi, and there are many bus routes, making it very convenient.
"Ta Xua isn't too expensive; I think around 2 million VND per person is enough for a comfortable trip to Ta Xua."Hạnh shared.
She also emphasized that Ta Xua is not perfect. It's not very convenient or suitable for a relaxing vacation, so before the trip, people should prepare themselves for the rather harsh weather: freezing cold nights, foggy mornings, scorching midday sun, and chilly afternoons; infrastructure is still quite lacking, with not many clean and comfortable homestays or resorts; high humidity year-round means bedding is often damp and cold; and the roads are winding, steep, and in poor condition. Although many people think of clouds when mentioning Ta Xua, they aren't always present, and the chances of encountering fog are higher than encountering clouds.

"When you come to Ta Xua, don't expect too much. Maintain a cheerful and relaxed attitude, be ready to embrace all the changes in nature, and admire and enjoy a truly green, pristine, and majestic Ta Xua, rather than just focusing on taking beautiful photos."Ms. Hanh shared.
