With the goal of developing sustainable exports, linked to investment in economic and technical infrastructure development, science and technology, digital transformation, digital economy development, the development of green, clean, sustainable, and circular production, and improving the quality of human resources, building and developing the brand of goods in Son La province; developing exports in conjunction with the development planning and plans of Son La province to leverage competitive advantages, effectively exploit opportunities and mitigate the impact of challenges in implementing commitments to international economic integration, participating deeply in global supply chains and value chains; gradually shifting towards direct exports through international trade contracts; promoting goods participating in exports that contribute to the development of green production and improve product quality. This will positively impact the processing and consumption of the province's advantageous goods in the domestic market and create momentum for the rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of Son La province.

In 2024, Son La province aims to achieve an export value of 196.1 million USD, an increase of 5.07% compared to 2023 (of which, agricultural and food products will account for 186.8 million USD, an increase of 5.12% compared to 2023), contributing to socio-economic development and job creation for workers in the province, especially in ethnic minority areas, remote areas, and border regions.

Regarding export targets for agricultural and food products.

- Fruit productsThe target for export value of fruit products is 34.22 million USD (an increase of 4.43% compared to 2023). Some of the main fruit products include:

+ Mango products for export reached 12,900 tons (including 6,400 tons of fresh fruit; 5,500 tons of fresh mangoes processed for export at factories inside and outside the province; 1,000 tons of IQF mango products and concentrated mango juice at the Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company's fruit processing factory). The value of mango products for export is expected to reach 5.6 million USD. Export markets include: China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Mongolia, etc.

+ The export volume of longan products reached 5,500 tons (including 1,000 tons of fresh longan fruit and 4,500 tons of dried longan). The expected export value of longan products is 24.9 million USD. Export markets include China, Japan, and South Korea...

+ Passion fruit exports reached 1,700 tons. The expected export value of passion fruit is 0.9 million USD. Export markets include China and EU countries (France, Switzerland, etc.).

+ The volume of bananas exported reached 6,000 tons. The expected export value of bananas is 1.8 million USD; Export market: China;

- Processed agricultural products and other agricultural products:The value of processed agricultural products and other agricultural products participating in exports is targeted to reach US$152.58 million (an increase of 5.28% compared to 2023). Some key items include:

+ The projected volume of tea products for export is 10,500 tons; the projected export value is 21.8 million USD; Export markets: China, Taiwan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Japan...

+ The projected export volume of coffee products is 32,000 tons; the export value of coffee products is expected to exceed 89.3 million USD; the target markets are the EU, North America, the United States, the Middle East, and ASEAN.

+ Approximately 100,000 tons of cassava products were exported (including 60,000 tons of cassava starch; 40,000 tons of other cassava products such as dried cassava chips, etc.); the export value of cassava products reached 38.2 million USD. Market: China.

+ Other processed agricultural products (pineapple, sweet corn, spinach, etc.) are expected to reach 2,600 tons for export; the value of these processed agricultural products (pineapple, sweet corn, spinach, etc.) for export is projected at US$2.58 million. Processing unit: Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company in Ninh Binh and its branch in Son La province. Export markets: China, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Mongolia, etc.

Regarding export targets for other products

The total value of other products from the province participating in exports in 2024 is expected to reach 9.3 million USD. The main export items include cement, textiles, and other products.
