On October 13th, Ms. Trang Thi Xuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected and assessed the situation regarding the border, national boundary markers, and security and order along the border in Muong Leo, Muong Lan, and Sop Cop communes. Accompanying her was Ms. Hoang Thi Doi, Deputy Head of the Standing Delegation of the National Assembly of Son La province.
Over the past period, territorial sovereignty, border security, political security, and social order and safety in the communes have been maintained; the border system, border markers, and other structures have been managed, protected, and preserved in their original state. Party committees and unit commanders regularly practice on-site combat plans to protect their units and prepare combat readiness plans to defend the border. The communes have propagated and mobilized the people to strictly abide by the agreement on the Vietnam-Laos border regime; maintained coordination in managing and protecting the border and border markers; and strengthened friendship with localities in the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Speaking at a meeting with commune leaders, Comrade Trang Thi Xuan requested that border guard posts and border communes focus on disseminating and educating border officials, soldiers, and people about the law; strengthen monitoring of the situation at the grassroots level; and effectively manage and protect border security and sovereignty. She also urged them to maintain and coordinate effective unilateral and bilateral patrols and inspections to protect the border line, border markers, and other border structures in the area; and to effectively carry out foreign affairs and public relations work to help people develop economically, culturally, and socially.
