Over the past time, the situation of territorial sovereignty, border security, political security, social order and safety in the communes have been maintained; the system of border lines, national border markers and works have been organized, managed, protected and ensured intact. Party committees and unit commanders regularly practice on-site combat plans to protect the unit and combat readiness plans to protect the border. The communes have propagated, mobilized and encouraged people to strictly comply with the agreement on Vietnam - Laos border regulations; maintained coordination in managing and protecting the border lines and border markers; and strengthened friendship with localities of the Lao PDR.

Speaking at the meeting with the leaders of the communes, comrade Trang Thi Xuan requested the border posts and border communes to focus on propaganda, dissemination and legal education for officers, soldiers and people at the border; strengthen the grasp of the situation at the grassroots level, and effectively carry out the work of managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the border. Maintain and coordinate well the unilateral and bilateral patrols and inspections to protect the border line, border markers and other border works in the area; effectively carry out foreign affairs and mass mobilization work, helping people develop the economy, culture and society.
