On October 26th, the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Military Experts in Laos, Son La province, held a ceremony to commemorate the 76th anniversary of its founding (October 30, 1949 - October 30, 2025).

Attending the commemoration ceremony were representatives from the Lao Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Lao Friendship Traditional Liaison Committee; leaders of several departments and agencies of the province; 350 delegates representing the Vietnamese volunteer forces of Son La province who assisted Laos, and Lao students studying in Son La province.
At the program, delegates reviewed the formation, development, and special friendship tradition of the Vietnamese volunteer forces and military experts who assisted Laos. Accordingly, on October 30, 1949, the Central Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party decided to establish "Vietnamese military forces sent to perform international duties in Laos," named the Vietnamese Volunteer Army. This marked a milestone in the development and maturation of the military forces on the Laotian battlefield; affirming the correct policies and viewpoints of our Party in fulfilling international obligations. During the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism, approximately 400,000 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers participated in work and combat on the Laotian battlefield…

During their participation in combat in Laos, Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts from Son La province made significant contributions and provided support to Laos in building political foundations, revolutionary bases, consolidating armed forces, and developing people's war to meet the requirements of the national liberation struggle. The glorious and heroic historical tradition of generations of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts performing international duties in Laos continues to be preserved, promoted, and passed on to the younger generation to build and nurture the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring it remains ever-lasting and enduring for generations to come.
For the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Military Volunteers and Experts in Laos in Son La province, in recent years, they have brought together generations of veterans who participated in international missions in Laos to help poor members improve their lives and develop their family economies. In 2025, they provided 80 million VND in support to one veteran family in Xieng Kho district, Hua Phan province (Laos); visited and extended New Year greetings to the Vietnamese Embassy; and participated in the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year at schools with Lao students in the province.
On this occasion, the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam awarded certificates of merit to one collective and two individuals for their achievements in sponsoring and supporting Lao students in the 2024-2025 academic year. The Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Military Volunteers and Military Experts in Laos in Son La province presented gifts to Lao students studying in the province.

Groups and individuals received certificates of commendation from the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam.
