In the crisp early winter weather, joy spread throughout Ta Niet village (Moc Chau ward, Son La province) as the Ta Niet School Boarding House, part of Chieng Hac Kindergarten, was officially inaugurated and put into use. This is a heartfelt gift from units in Emulation Bloc No. 2, Ministry of National Defense, to the teachers and students in this remote border region.
A work of love and responsibility.
After nearly four months of construction, working tirelessly through sun and rain, officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 (Son La Provincial Military Command) completed the project ahead of schedule, ensuring quality and absolute safety. From the initial stages of construction to the handover, the image of the soldiers in green uniforms diligently laying bricks, installing corrugated iron sheets, and pouring concrete has become familiar and beloved to the people of Ta Niet village. Soldier Vi Van Huy, Company 1, Battalion 1, emotionally shared: "With each brick laid, we thought of the innocent smiles of the children. That is the motivation for us to overcome hardships and complete the project on schedule."

Chiềng Hắc Kindergarten currently has 6 school locations with 17 groups/classes, over 420 students, and 32 staff and teachers. The Ta Niết school location alone has 92 students under the care of 5 teachers. For many years, teachers and students here have had to teach and learn in makeshift, cramped classrooms with hot tin roofs, lacking a canteen and adequate facilities, significantly affecting the care, nurturing, and education of the children. Stemming from these difficulties, Military Region 2, along with units in Emulation Bloc No. 2 of the Ministry of National Defense (comprising 7 military regions and the Hanoi Capital Command), have jointly provided funding from the "For the Poor" Fund to build a boarding house for the Ta Niết school location. The project includes 3 classrooms, a canteen, and other supporting facilities, with a total cost of 2.4 billion VND. The entire construction process was directly carried out by officers and soldiers of Regiment 754 with all their dedication, responsibility, and affection for the teachers and students in the highlands, contributing to providing them with a spacious, safe, and warm school building, reflecting the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers.
Colonel Dao Ngoc Phuong, Deputy Head of Political Affairs of Military Region 2, affirmed: “The Ta Niet School Boarding House project is not only a spacious classroom, but also a source of faith, hope, and motivation for the children in the highlands to continue their education. This is a vivid testament to the affection and responsibility of the officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Military Region 2 and units in Emulation Bloc No. 2, Ministry of National Defense, towards the cause of education and towards the people in border areas and remote regions.”
The joy of teachers and students in the highlands.
For the teaching staff, the new school is truly a major turning point in the journey of bringing literacy to the highlands. Young teacher Van Thi Hanh shared: “Previously, we had to teach in dilapidated classrooms; it was stuffy in the sun, leaky in the rain, and during strong storms we had to send students home to ensure their safety. Now, with sturdy classrooms, a spacious canteen, and modern facilities, we have more motivation to stay committed to our profession and to the children in the highlands. Parents are also more reassured and happy that their children can study and live in better conditions.”

Sharing in that joy, Ms. Do Thi Mai Yen, Principal of Chieng Hac Kindergarten, said emotionally: “For many years, the facilities at Ta Niet School have seriously deteriorated, affecting the quality of childcare and education. In the 2025-2026 school year, Ta Niet School will receive a new boarding house, which is a great joy. It will create conditions for teachers and students to have a safe and friendly learning and living environment, contributing to improving the quality of care, nurturing, and education of children, helping them develop comprehensively in morality, intellect, physical health, and aesthetics, and providing them with a solid foundation for the following school years.”
Mr. Duong Van Phan, Head of Ta Niet village, shared: “Our people are deeply moved by the affection and concern of Military Region 2 and the units in Emulation Bloc No. 2, Ministry of National Defense. The spacious school today is not only a meaningful gift for the children of this mountainous region, but also demonstrates the close and strong bond between the military and the people. This is an encouragement for the people of Ta Niet village to continue striving and working together to build a more prosperous homeland.”
Now, on the new school grounds, the clear laughter of the students blends with the lively sound of the school drum, heralding an exciting new beginning. This also continues the fine tradition of "being remembered by the people when they leave, and cherished by the people when they stay," further enhancing the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people.
