Overcoming infrastructure challenges and the difficult living conditions of people in mountainous and border areas, Son La's health sector is accelerating digital transformation; contributing to improved management efficiency and helping people better access services.
The digital healthcare system in Son La is gradually being implemented synchronously, with 100% of medical examination and treatment facilities using software for examination and treatment, and integrated health insurance payments; 100% of commune-level health stations apply basic healthcare software and electronic health records to manage patient records and people's health information.
Hospitals have implemented cashless payment methods, linking with commercial banks in the area. All administrative procedures of the sector are carried out through an electronic one-stop software, with 100% of them being processed on time…

Healthcare facilities in Son La are actively applying digital technology in management and operations.
In particular, Son La is also one of the pioneering localities in implementing the Electronic Health Book on the VNeID application, helping people easily monitor and manage their personal health information anytime, anywhere, thereby realizing the goal of "digital transformation for the health of all people".
In addition, the province is accelerating the implementation of electronic medical records as directed by the Ministry of Health; by the end of October 2025, 7 out of 20 hospitals in the province had successfully implemented the electronic medical record system; 11 units are expected to complete the process by the end of this year.

Many hospitals have successfully implemented and operated electronic medical records.
Hospitals located in disadvantaged, border areas with large ethnic minority populations in Son La are also striving to overcome difficulties to accelerate the implementation and operation of these digital transformation models.
Dr. Hoang Lan Phuong, Deputy Director of Song Ma Regional General Hospital, Son La province, said: "To implement the Electronic Medical Record system, the hospital has developed a plan to install internet and Wi-Fi service packages, digital signatures, and outsource IT services for the electronic medical record system, including transmitting diagnostic imaging results within the hospital... striving to complete the Electronic Medical Record system in the fourth quarter of 2025."
The hospital has also implemented electronic health records, but many patients still cannot integrate their electronic health records into the system because they do not have smartphones, thus creating difficulties in integration.

Digital transformation in the healthcare sector has made it easier for people to access services.
The Son La Health Department is making efforts to coordinate with all levels and sectors to implement electronic health records for all citizens; focusing on completing infrastructure and putting electronic medical records into operation at all medical examination and treatment facilities in the province; accelerating the implementation of the Smart Hospital model at Son La Provincial General Hospital... contributing to improving the quality of service to the people and achieving the goal of building a digital government, digital society, and digital healthcare system in Son La province.
