Businesses, cooperatives, and farmers in Son La have actively applied high technology to agricultural production, increasing product value and economic efficiency; gradually realizing the goal of making Son La the "capital" of high-tech agriculture in the Northwest region.
Developing high-tech agriculture, Son La province has built and formed many good models and practices in production, enhancing the value of products, such as: models for early-ripening plums, longan, safe vegetables, custard apples, strawberries...; along with tea and coffee production according to standards, yielding incomes from several hundred million to billions of VND/hectare/year. Many cooperatives and farmers apply new technologies such as drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, greenhouse models, and introduce many new, high-quality fruit varieties to meet market demands.

Many businesses, cooperatives, and farmers in Son La are investing in high-tech agricultural production.
To date, Son La has built a brand with over 300 safe supply chains; nearly 5,600 hectares of crops meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; and more than 240 OCOP products at the provincial and national levels. Notably, the province has 9 recognized high-tech agricultural zones, with key products such as tea, dairy cows, coffee, custard apple, mango, longan, and plum. Currently, a High-Tech Agricultural Zone project is being implemented in Tan Yen commune, expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in 2025.

Fruit products from Son La are widely consumed in the market.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, stated: These high-tech agricultural zones will serve as adjacent areas for the development of high-tech agricultural zones; and the second objective is that the establishment of these high-tech agricultural zones will create large-scale agricultural production areas, focusing on concentrated production, applying science and technology, organic farming, and smart agriculture in Son La province; simultaneously, it will develop a production chain linking farmers with businesses; and processing plants will be formed and developed strongly.

Cooperative societies invest in the production and processing of specialty coffee products.
During the period 2025-2030, Son La province will focus on developing 25 high-tech agricultural zones, perfecting the agricultural product consumption system along the value chain, and attracting leading enterprises with capital and technology to invest. Alongside this, it will continue to encourage the development of digital agriculture, smart agriculture, and ecological agriculture, linked with agricultural tourism in areas such as Moc Chau, Thuan Chau, and Pha Din Pass.
These are the strategic directions for Son La to gradually become the "capital" of high-tech agricultural development in the Northwest region, striving to become the center for agricultural product processing in the Northern Midlands and mountainous region by 2030.
