A challenging trekking journey
The journey to conquer Sa Mu is not for those who are unprepared. Recently, Anh Tho (born in 2002) completed the trip with a different route, increasing the difficulty of the challenge.
Instead of choosing the popular route of 8km up and 12km down, she chose the opposite direction.

"I climbed back 12 km, there were no motorbike taxis to reach the summit, and then I had to walk another 2 km to get down to the campsite. You could say my route was equivalent to climbing two peaks. I started climbing at 8 PM, reached the summit at 9 PM, and came down to the campsite at 11:46 PM," Anh Thơ shared about her memorable journey.
Although not among the top 15 highest mountains in Vietnam, the beauty of Sa Mu remains a powerful attraction.
After navigating slippery, muddy roads in freezing weather and without phone signal, the reward was breathtaking natural scenery that few people have the chance to admire.
"To admire these natural landscapes, if you don't push yourself, you'll probably never see them with your own eyes in your lifetime," Anh Thơ expressed.
The beauty of Sa Mu through the seasons
The Sa Mu trekking route is likened to a "four-season painting" amidst the vast forest, each season possessing its own unique charm, creating a special allure rarely found elsewhere.

Mysterious primeval forest
The journey to the summit takes visitors through primeval forests, where the vegetation changes dramatically with altitude. Moss-covered trails, gnarled ancient tree trunks, and dense fog create an eerie, mystical atmosphere.
In early November, as the weather begins to turn chilly, the fog makes Sa Mu even more mysterious. This is an opportunity for tourists to immerse themselves in wild nature and fully appreciate the grandeur of the mountains and forests.
Information you need to know for the trip
To have a fulfilling trip, participants need to be well-prepared in terms of physical fitness and equipment.
For nature lovers and explorers, Sa Mu is definitely a must-see destination on the Northwest Vietnam tourism map.
