On November 19th, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected and assessed the situation regarding the border, national boundary markers, and security and order along the border lines of Sop Cop and Muong Leo communes. Accompanying him were leaders from several provincial departments and agencies, and the Provincial Border Guard Command.

During the working trip, the delegation inspected the border and several border markers in Sop Cop and Muong Leo communes; checked the progress of the construction of the Nam Lanh sub-border gate and the project to open a new Huoi La sub-border gate in Muong Leo commune, Son La province - Loong Nhang, Phon Thong district, Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic. They also visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to officers and soldiers at the Nam Lanh and Muong Leo Border Guard Posts, the Nam Lanh Sub-border Gate Border Guard Station, the Pa Khoang Border Control Station, and the Huoi La Border Guard Task Force.

The working group inspected the progress of the construction of the Nam Lanh sub-border gate in Sop Cop commune.
The territorial sovereignty, border security, political security, and social order in the two communes of Sop Cop and Muong Leo are maintained; the border system, border markers, and border structures are managed, protected, and preserved in their original state. Party committees and unit commanders regularly practice on-site combat plans, unit defense, and border defense readiness plans. The communes propagate and mobilize the people to strictly abide by the agreement on the Vietnam-Laos border regime; maintain coordination in managing and protecting the border and border markers; and strengthen friendship with the Na Son Cluster, Phon Thong District, Luang Prabang Province, and the Muong Po Cluster, Muong Son District, Hua Phan Province, of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Dang Ngoc Hau requested that border guard posts and border communes strengthen the dissemination and education of laws to officers, soldiers, and people in border areas; enhance the monitoring of the situation at the grassroots level; and effectively manage and protect border sovereignty and security. He also urged them to maintain and coordinate effective unilateral and bilateral patrols and inspections to protect the border line, border markers, and other border structures; and to effectively carry out foreign affairs and mass mobilization work to help people develop their economy, culture, and society. Furthermore, he called for coordination with provincial departments and agencies to accelerate the implementation of the project to open the new Huoi La sub-border gate and to expedite the construction of the Nam Lanh sub-border gate.
