Son La: 7 traditional festivals of ethnic minorities are preserved and exploited to serve tourism development.
In 2025, the province paid attention to and implemented the preservation of ethnic culture through many specific and practical methods, contributing to raising people's awareness of the value and importance of preserving traditional culture.
Provincial authorities and departments have focused on investing in the construction of cultural institutions; supporting the preservation and promotion of the fine traditional cultural features of ethnic groups, in conjunction with the development of distinctive tourism products.

Specifically, by 2025, seven traditional festivals of ethnic minorities were preserved, promoted, and developed into tourism products, including: the Xên Festival of the Thai people in Ta Hoc commune; the Dong Sua Festival of the Thai people in Kha village, Yen Chau commune; the New Rice Festival of the Thai people in Kim village, Yen Chau commune; the Rain Prayer Festival of the Thai people in Na Bo 1 residential area, Moc Chau ward; the Golden Harvest Festival in Xim Vang commune; the New Rice Festival in Na Hin village, Song Ma commune; and the Xên Ban Festival in Me Bon village, Song Ma commune.
In addition, one model of traditional culture of ethnic minorities has been established; seven folk culture clubs in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and resettlement areas have been maintained; three festivals and cultural and artistic exchange events of traditional ethnic minorities have been organized; two training courses on professional skills and capacity building for preserving and promoting traditional cultural values and a course on teaching and preserving intangible cultural values have been organized; and eight ethnic minority artisans (including folk artisans, outstanding artisans, and practitioners of intangible cultural values) have taught the intangible cultural heritage of their communities.
The achievements have contributed to improving the cultural and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities. Many localities have risen strongly, becoming attractive tourist destinations, simultaneously preserving and promoting cultural values, developing the economy, achieving sustainable poverty reduction, building new rural areas, and eliminating outdated customs. At the same time, the implemented activities have also contributed to raising awareness and responsibility within the community regarding the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values.
