For many years, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province has regularly organized tourism competitions and award ceremonies within the province. These competitions include: Beautiful Son La tourism photos; awards for recognizing tourism brands; creative Son La tourism video clips; tourism slogan creation; and tour design and presentation.
According to Mr. Tran Xuan Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the competitions are created to connect the community and develop tourism in the locality, inspiring tourism developers, households involved in community tourism, and tourism enthusiasts. The competition also serves as an information channel to help units in the industry connect, share, and communicate about their products; and provides localities with a platform to promote their destinations.

The photograph "Dai Yem Waterfall" won the A prize in the 2025 Son La Tourism Photography Contest.
Through the submitted entries and honored products, the competitions have contributed to discovering, honoring, and spreading the outstanding values of Son La's natural resources, cultural identity of its ethnic groups, and people. This has helped improve the quality of products and services and stimulate tourism demand, ultimately affirming Son La's tourism potential in the digital age and enhancing its image and position as a tourist destination. With the success of the competition, Son La promises to continue being an attractive destination on the Vietnamese tourism map.
The leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also believe that these competitions create a channel for close communication with central and local news agencies, thereby promoting the local tourism potential.

In 2025, the Son La tourism photography contest received over 300 entries from 55 authors nationwide. The tourism brand selection contest attracted 45 participating units and establishments, with a total of 167,695 votes, and the video clip contest had a total of 39 entries. The work "On the summit of Hua Tat, Van Ho commune, Son La province" by author Trang A Chu won first prize in the video clip category. The tourism slogan contest attracted 153 entries from authors both inside and outside the province; the tour design and presentation contest attracted 15 entries, demonstrating the positive interest and response to Son La's tourism promotion activities. At the awards ceremony, the organizing committee presented 5 A prizes, 5 B prizes, 10 C prizes, and 10 consolation prizes for the Son La tourism photo contest. For the tourism video clip contest, there were 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 5 consolation prizes, with prize values ranging from 3 million to 15 million VND per prize. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 4 prizes for tourist areas and attractions, and 3 prizes for hotel groups worth VND 20,000,000 each; 2 prizes for other accommodation establishments and 2 prizes for food and beverage service businesses that meet the standards for serving tourists, worth VND 10,000,000 each; For the tour design and presentation competition, there was 1 A prize, 2 B prizes, 3 C prizes and 2 Consolation prizes. |
