The report on the implementation of the election of National Assembly deputies for the 16th term and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Yen Chau commune shows that on November 13, 2025, the People's Committee of the commune issued Decision No. 657/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Yen Chau Commune Election Committee for the 2026-2031 term, consisting of 17 members.

Based on the former 5 communes and 1 town of Yen Chau district; and the number of voters in the villages, on December 31, 2025, the People's Committee of the commune issued Decision No. 949/QD-UBND on the establishment of 6 Election Committees for the election of People's Council representatives at the commune level, ensuring the number, composition and time as prescribed.

Regarding the results of the first round of consultations, for the Son La Provincial People's Council representatives, Yen Chau commune was allocated to nominate 3 candidates. The commune Party Committee issued Plan No. 59-KH/DU dated January 9, 2026, on organizing a joint conference to gather opinions from voters at their workplaces regarding the candidates expected to be nominated for the People's Council representatives for the 2026-2031 term, to be completed before January 20, 2026.

For the Yen Chau Commune People's Council, the number of elected representatives is 27; the number of people expected to be nominated as candidates for the Commune People's Council is 51.

In accordance with Article 10 of the Law on the Election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council Deputies of 2015, as amended and supplemented by Clause 4, Article 1 of the 2025 Law, the Commune Election Committee issued Resolution No. 01/NQ-UBBC dated December 22, 2025, on determining and announcing the number of electoral units, the list of electoral units, and the number of People's Council Deputies of Yen Chau Commune to be elected in each electoral unit for the 2026-2031 term (the commune comprises 6 electoral units). Emphasizing that this election is taking place about two months earlier than previous elections, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that Yen Chau continue to strengthen leadership, guidance, and organization of election preparations; thoroughly understand the position, role, and significance of the election, identifying it as a particularly important political task for the entire political system in the first quarter of 2026.
