Due to difficult economic conditions, in the past, many families in the border communes of Son La province were unable to build sturdy houses to live in.
Ms. Lo Thi La (of the Thai ethnic group, residing in Na Gion village, Chieng Khoong border commune, Son La province) and her son moved into their new house today with boundless joy and excitement. Her husband left when their son was only one month old, and for many years she single-handedly raised and educated him. The family's income depended solely on a small plot of garden and farmland, so the dream of a sturdy house to live in remained a distant one.
Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, families entitled to preferential policies, and people in difficult circumstances, in accordance with the Party's guidelines, the commune, village, and philanthropists have prioritized resources to help the mother and her children have a sturdy house to live in.
"Thank you so much to the Party and the State. My mother and I no longer have to worry about the rain or the sun; we can now focus on our work and strive for a better life," Ms. La shared.

Ms. Lo Thi La, from Na Gion village, Chieng Khoong border commune, Son La province (center), is delighted to receive her new house.
Moving into his new house just before the 14th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Vang A Di (a Mong ethnic minority, a poor household in Na Kham village, Chieng Khoong commune) did not forget to neatly hang the national flag on his porch. For him and the Mong people in Na Kham village, the Party is the guiding light, bringing a prosperous and happy life to the people.
Thanks to the Party's attention, the support of local Party committees and authorities, and the collective efforts of the community, his family was able to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) fully, enjoying the spring in their new, sturdy, and warm home.
Vang A Dia said that his parents were poor in the past and didn't have much land to cultivate, so life was difficult. He and his wife had been married for several years, but with little land for farming, their income was only enough to cover their children's education and family living expenses, so their dream of building a sturdy house to live in remained unfulfilled.
Thanks to the Party and the State's financial support in building a new, spacious house to replace their old, dilapidated one, the family is very happy. Going forward, the family will work hard to improve their lives.

The family of Mr. Vang A Di in Na Kham village, Chieng Khoong commune (Son La province) now has a sturdy house to live in.
Chiềng Khoong commune has 50 villages, mainly inhabited by the Thai and Mong ethnic groups. To date, the entire commune still has more than 400 poor households, equivalent to over 9.2%.
According to Mr. Lo Van Than, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chieng Khoong commune, as a difficult border commune, a significant number of households previously lived in temporary or dilapidated houses. However, thanks to the Party and State's efforts in implementing a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the people with the motto "Leaving no one behind," this number has decreased significantly.

In 2025, Son La province eliminated nearly 3,100 temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households still facing housing difficulties, exceeding the plan by 221 houses.
Through a review conducted in 2025, the entire commune identified 88 households in need of replacing temporary or dilapidated houses. Of these, 32 households met the criteria to receive government support for the replacement of temporary or dilapidated houses; the remaining households were not eligible for support. The commune has appealed for the cooperation and assistance of organizations, associations, and philanthropists with the hope that 100% of households facing housing difficulties in the area will have the opportunity to build sturdy houses for stable living and livelihood.
"The program to eliminate temporary housing is very meaningful and important, helping people to have the spirit and resources to rise up. Certainly, the households supported in eliminating temporary housing and the people of ethnic minorities will feel very secure in their work and production, have absolute trust in the leadership of the Party and the State, and contribute to building a more developed homeland and country," Mr. Than emphasized.
