A delegation from the Foreign Affairs Departments of 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic visited, worked with, and signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs of Son La province.
Over the past period, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Son La province and the foreign affairs agencies of 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic have effectively coordinated in advising the Party committees and governments of each side on foreign affairs. This includes advising on the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation signed for the period 2022-2024 between Son La province and the 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, contributing to strengthening the solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Son La province and its Lao counterparts. They have also successfully organized and disseminated information regarding working visits by provincial leaders and officials from various departments and agencies of each side, ensuring safety and effectiveness in implementing cooperation initiatives. Furthermore, they have consistently advised the competent authorities of each side to send congratulatory letters on the occasion of major national and provincial holidays.
Representatives from the Foreign Affairs agencies of nine provinces in the Lao People's Democratic Republic raised difficulties and obstacles encountered in implementing cooperation with Son La province. These included issues such as the lack of timely information from visiting delegations, especially those led by provincial leaders, which hindered the completion of necessary procedures; and a lack of consensus on the methods and content of information exchange between the two sides to facilitate timely advice and implementation according to their respective functions and duties. They also requested that the Son La Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs continue to advise the provincial leadership on supporting the provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in all areas.
Based on the achievements and difficulties identified, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Son La province and the Foreign Affairs agencies of 9 provinces of the Lao People's Democratic Republic signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement stipulates continued coordination in advising the leaders of each province on effectively implementing the contents of the cooperation agreement signed between Son La province and the 9 provinces during the 2022-2024 period.
