Over the past period, the tourism sector has focused on collecting, standardizing, and updating comprehensive data on tourist areas, attractions, historical sites, festivals, accommodation establishments, businesses, tourism products, and services in the province, gradually forming a centralized tourism data bank. This data is currently integrated and managed on the "Son La Tour" smart tourism platform and the Son La province smart tourism digital map, ensuring the ability to search, update, and utilize it online to serve tourism management, promotion, and advertising. Promoting the digitalization and interconnection of tourism data is a key strategy to build a smart tourism ecosystem and enhance competitiveness. This is not only a trend in smart tourism worldwide, but also in other localities. Currently, localities are developing digital maps, integrating multi-criteria data, virtual reality (VR 360°), and connecting to the national platform. Recognizing that digital transformation is an inevitable trend for tourism to break through and develop sustainably, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province has proactively and actively applied technology and digital transformation in tourism activities to bring new advantages and experiences to tourists.
In the coming period, once the province's shared data center is completed, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology and other relevant agencies to integrate and synchronize tourism data into the province's shared data system, aiming to connect and share information with the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, forming an interconnected and unified tourism data network from the central to local levels.
Promoting digitalization and data connectivity will help transform tourism management methods from manual to data-driven, supporting statistical analysis, forecasting, planning, and decision-making. It will also facilitate easy access to accurate, transparent, and timely information for businesses, service providers, and tourists, contributing to improved management capacity, effective promotion, enhanced experiences, and the development of Son La tourism in a modern, smart, and sustainable direction.
