At the commune level, all 75 communes and wards have completed the establishment of commune-level election committees, with over 1,100 members; 451 election boards for commune/ward People's Council representatives and 1,580 polling stations, ensuring compliance with regulations regarding timing, structure, and composition.
Abouthuman resourcesAccording to the proposed plan, the number of provincial People's Council representatives to be elected for the 2026-2031 term is 55, with 122 candidates nominated. For the commune level, it is projected that 1,619 People's Council representatives will be elected, with 2,941 candidates nominated. Personnel preparation is being carried out meticulously, ensuring the standards, structure, composition, and proportions are reasonable according to central government guidelines.
By January 31st, agencies, units, and localities had received 2,719 out of 3,077 candidate applications, achieving over 88%. The process of receiving, verifying, and reviewing applications was carried out seriously, in accordance with procedures, ensuring transparency and full updating on the management system as prescribed.

The Provincial Election Committee, in coordination with the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and local authorities, organized the first round of consultations to reach a consensus on the structure, composition, and number of candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels. In the coming period, the Son La Department of Internal Affairs will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Election Committee to organize two training conferences on election work for all levels, election committees, and polling stations, expected to be completed in February 2026.
