Responding to an invitation from Luang Prabang Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, to the leaders of Son La Province to attend the inauguration, handover, and commissioning ceremony of the new office building of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang Province – a project financially supported by Son La Province to Luang Prabang Province according to the Memorandum of Cooperation between Son La Province and Luang Prabang Province for the period 2022-2024 – authorized by the Provincial leadership, from January 28 to 30, 2026, a delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs of Son La Province, led by Mr. Nguyen Van May - Deputy Director of the Department, visited and attended the ceremony. Attending the program from Luang Prabang Province were Mr. Chin Da Vong Pho Si Kham - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Government Committee; representatives of leaders from various departments and agencies of Luang Prabang Province; and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Udomxay Province. The Vietnamese Consulate General in Northern Laos is staffed by Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly and other officials and employees of the Consulate General.

According to the report, the construction of the new office building for the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang Province commenced on March 18, 2024, and will continue until January 17, 2026 (22 months). The project has a total investment of 16,583,196.063 kip (Sixteen billion five hundred eighty-three million one hundred ninety-six thousand sixty-three kip). The office building has two floors with a total area of ​​820m2, including the following items: a meeting hall, offices, a reception room, a technical room, a storage room, and several other facilities.

Leaders of the Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the construction unit signed the handover document for the new office building of the Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Chin Da Vong Pho Si Kham emphasized: The new office building of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang province is a vivid symbol of the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Son La province and Luang Prabang province, and is the result of implementing the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two provinces for the period 2022-2024. The Party Committee, Government, and people of Luang Prabang province sincerely thank the Party Committee, Government, and people of Son La province for their sincere and effective support over the past time; and expressed firm confidence that, with this spacious new office building, the officials and staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang province will be able to work with peace of mind and proactively provide better advice on local foreign affairs between Luang Prabang province and other provinces in Vietnam in general, and Son La province in particular.
