To promote the pioneering role of young people in the task of protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security, youth union branches in the province have organized many practical and meaningful activities directed towards the border areas to express gratitude for the contributions of the people and forces serving to protect the country's borders.
A program to raise awareness about the sea, islands, and land borders for young people was held at border marker 243, Chieng Tuong commune, Yen Chau district.
Recently, in Long Sap commune, Moc Chau district, the Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with the Provincial Border Guard Command, organized the launching program for "Youth Month, Border Month". This included the inauguration of the "Lighting Up the Border" project; the donation of 15 maps titled "Proud of Our Homeland" to the Long Sap Border Guard Post and 14 villages in Long Sap commune; and the awarding of 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students. Simultaneously, medical examinations, consultations, and medication distribution were provided to 300 people and young people; and trees were planted along the border, with a total value exceeding 300 million VND.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union directed local youth union branches to organize the "March Border Month" program, promoting the spirit of "Youth taking the lead and volunteering for community life." Through this program, young people will gain a better understanding of the duties of officers and soldiers in protecting territorial sovereignty and border security, and become aware of their responsibility in accompanying and contributing to the protection of the Fatherland's borders; thereby becoming active communicators, striving to participate in youth activities, projects, and tasks, supporting people and children in border areas.
Meanwhile, in Yen Chau district, the Chieng Tuong Commune Youth Union and the Chieng Tuong Border Guard Station jointly organized the "I Love My Homeland" journey, with the theme "Raising awareness about the sea, islands, and land borders among young people" at border marker 243. Officers and soldiers of the Chieng Tuong Border Guard Station, along with youth union members and students, repaired and cleared the border marker. Students listened to stories from the officers and soldiers about soldiers performing border protection duties and experienced participating in border patrols.
Ms. Vi Phuong Thao, Secretary of the Youth Union of Chieng Tuong commune, shared: "The 'I Love My Homeland' journey aims to spread among the younger generation a sense of pride in the glorious history and revolutionary traditions of the nation. Therefore, the Youth Union of the commune coordinated with the Chieng Tuong Border Guard Station to organize a flag-raising ceremony at the border marker. This is not only a sacred ceremony but also has educational significance in fostering patriotism and equipping young people with legal knowledge."
Giang Thi Cam, a 5th-grade student from Chieng Tuong Primary School, shared: "Participating in this journey has helped us better understand our duties and responsibilities in protecting the country's borders."
In addition to organizing numerous traditional educational activities, border patrol experiences, and exchanges with border guards, youth union branches also promote the dissemination and education of laws and border sovereignty protection to young people through social media pages and Fanpages managed by youth unions at all levels. This attracts many interactions, views, and shares from officials, union members, and young people.
With diverse forms and rich content, propaganda activities on protecting border sovereignty have contributed to educating the younger generation about patriotic traditions and national pride, raising awareness, understanding, and a sense of responsibility towards their homeland's borders; encouraging and motivating youth union members to actively participate in volunteer activities for the community, socio-economic development, and the protection of national border sovereignty.
