Launching the "Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest in 2024

On the morning of March 20, 2024, the launching ceremony of the "Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest 2024 took place in Hanoi. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam and Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists co-chaired the launching ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest in 2024 was organized to respond to the International Day of Happiness on March 20 and implement Decision No. 1079/QD-TTg dated September 14, 2022 of the Prime Minister approving the Project on communication on human rights in Vietnam. This is also one of the key activities in the human rights communication plan of the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2024.

2024 is the second time the contest is held after achieving impressive successes in the first organization in 2023, being widely received and highly appreciated by the public at home and abroad.

The contest is organized with the aim of discovering and honoring meaningful moments and stories in all aspects of political, economic, cultural and social life through photos and videos to affirm achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, thereby affirming achievements in the field of ensuring human rights in Vietnam in recent years.

Mobilizing the participation of the whole society

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said that this year's contest has innovation in organization methods by mobilizing the participation of the whole society, the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends in communication work, promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world.

Talking about a happy Vietnam, there is nothing more convincing than Vietnamese people telling their stories with their own perspectives and experiences, thereby affirming that the people are the subjects, enjoying all the values in life in Vietnam.

Today's event invites content creators and influencers on social media platforms to contribute to spreading good, positive content on social media.

The Deputy Minister added that after the contest, the Organizing Committee will select the best works to award prizes and about 100 works that make it to the final round will be selected to display in an exhibition to serve the communication work on human rights at home and abroad in the coming time.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Director of the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications introduced some information about the Contest.

Sharing more about the new points of the 2024 contest, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of External Information, said that the Ministry of Information and Communications hasOfficial dispatch No. 901/BTTTT-TTDNOn March 15, 2024, it was suggested that localities coordinate to launch and communicate about the contest in their localities. Localities can also organize contests such as Ha Giang Happiness, Binh Dinh Happiness... on the common platform of the contest developed by the Ministry, and can organize separate exhibitions and award prizes, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan suggested.

Criteria for entries

- Highly promote the image of the country, Vietnamese people, cultural and natural values throughout the country; arouse national pride and development aspirations in all classes of people to join hands in building Vietnam to become increasingly prosperous, prosperous and happy.

- Reflects truthfully and vividly the development achievements in all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural and social life, especially in the process of innovation, development and international integration.

- Convey valuable knowledge, attract strong public interest and have wide spread domestically and internationally.

- The work was created from January 1, 2022 to the time of receipt and has never been submitted to or won any previous competitions or exhibitions.

Specific criteria for each competition category are specified in the Competition Rules on the website:https://happy.vietnam.vn.

Prize structure

Each competition category has the following prizes and prize values:

- 01 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND

- 02 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND

- 03 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND

- 10 Consolation prizes: 5,000,000 VND

- 01 Most voted work: 5,000,000 VND

The winning authors will be invited by the Organizing Committee to attend the Announcement Ceremony and award the prizes and certificates on live television of Vietnam Television. The Organizing Committee will deduct personal income tax according to current regulations.

The award structure may change, based on the quality of the works in each category. In addition, the Organizing Committee will award certificates of merit to the authors who won Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals and the locality with the most works participating in the contest; the locality with the most first prize winning works, etc.

Authors who win Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Encouragement Medals in the photography category will be awarded points for their titles and will be eligible to participate in the annual Excellent Photography Awards; award-winning and exhibited works will be considered for creative support according to the regulations of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. For authors who are not yet members of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, each award-winning or exhibited work will be awarded points when considering membership according to the Association's Regulations.
