On May 9th, the first Long Phieng Plum Festival in 2026 was inaugurated in Yen Thi village, Long Phieng commune. Attending the festival were Ms. Luong Thi Van Anh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee; leaders from several provincial departments and agencies; a large number of local people, cooperatives, and tourists; and representatives from Mong Nam commune, Xieng Kho district, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Long Phieng commune currently has 1,035 hectares of late-season plums, with an expected yield of over 9,600 tons in 2026. In recent years, local people have focused on applying advanced techniques to production and cultivation in a safe and sustainable manner, contributing to improving the quality and value of the product. Currently, the entire commune has harvested approximately 3,500 tons of fruit, with a value exceeding 110 billion VND, mainly sold at wholesale markets inside and outside the province.

The festival took place over two days, May 9th and 10th, with many activities, such as: plum picking competition, booth display and agricultural product introduction competition, competition to introduce Long Phieng, sports activities, cultural performances showcasing ethnic identity, and tours and experiences in plum orchards.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, delegates visited the booths displaying local agricultural products and witnessed the first shipment of plums being sold at wholesale markets, opening up opportunities to connect with markets and enhance the value of Long Phieng plums.
