On May 8th, Mr. Ha Trung Chien, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a conference on tourism development in Moc Chau and preparations for the Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026. Attending the conference were leaders from several departments and agencies, as well as leaders from several communes and wards in the Moc Chau and Van Ho areas, and the communes of Ngoc Chien and Ta Xua.
Overview of the conference.
At the conference, local leaders reported on the results of tourism development and investment attraction; they also highlighted difficulties and obstacles and proposed solutions to overcome them during implementation. In the first four months of the year, communes and wards organized numerous tourism promotion programs and events with rich and creative content. Specifically, Moc Chau and Moc Son wards assisted and guided four business households in completing their applications for the construction of accommodation facilities on multi-purpose land to serve tourism development.

However, the tourism development process still faces many difficulties such as: the transportation infrastructure to tourist destinations is dilapidated and narrow; infrastructure and environmental sanitation at some tourist destinations are still limited; tourism products and cultural experiences are not diverse enough; and the majority of the tourism workforce has not received formal training.

The delegates focused their discussions on issues related to granting construction permits on multi-purpose land for tourism; developing accommodation facilities; investing in electricity and clean water at community tourism destinations; improving the quality of human resources; and strengthening tourism promotion and marketing.
Concluding the conference, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that departments and agencies closely coordinate with localities to continue supporting businesses using multi-purpose land in accordance with regulations; promote investment in tourism infrastructure; review human resource training needs to develop appropriate training plans; strengthen trade promotion, tourism advertising, and effectively manage community tourism destinations...

Regarding preparations for the 2026 Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week, planned to be held on a provincial scale from August 28th to September 4th, 2026 at the Moc Chau National Tourist Area, delegates discussed the theme, script, and detailed content of the activities. The week will feature many unique events such as: art programs; cultural spaces showcasing ethnic groups; the Highland Tea Festival; a fair connecting the consumption and export of tourism and agricultural products; and especially the first Son La International Brocade Festival with the theme "Weaving Heritage in Harmonious Colors" and the "Safe Trekking" Festival.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with localities to finalize the overall script and detailed scripts for each activity to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and allocation of funds for implementation; to agree on the theme of the Moc Chau Culture and Tourism Week 2026 as "Moc Chau - The Call of the Season of Love"; and at the same time, to quickly finalize the plan for stage arrangement, program content and participants to ensure the successful organization of the week.
