Following the directives of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, from September 23-26, 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment chaired the program to welcome, coordinate work with, and guide the field survey for the delegation from the Agriculture and Environment sector of Phongsaly province (Lao People's Democratic Republic) during their visit to the province.
This visit and working trip is a significant activity, contributing to further strengthening the traditional friendly cooperative relationship and special solidarity between Son La and Phongsaly provinces in particular, as well as between Vietnam and Laos in general, in the fields of agriculture, resources, and environment.
During the working visit, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province respectfully welcomed and led the delegation of officials from Phongsaly province to visit the practical working model at the headquarters, and worked with specialized departments and sub-departments under the Department to share experiences on state management, administrative reform, and the organization of a streamlined and efficient operational apparatus.

During the official working session, the two sides exchanged in-depth expertise on many key areas. The conference focused on discussing technical solutions for crop cultivation and soil improvement, notably the experience of intercropping fruit trees on sloping land combined with erosion control, restoration of degraded agricultural land, application of modern rice cultivation techniques, and selection of high-yield rice varieties. In addition, the two agencies shared many effective models in livestock farming and circular economy, such as cattle breeding and fattening processes, milk production, and technology for processing livestock manure into bio-fertilizer. Topics on production organization, operation of greenhouse vegetable farming cooperatives, sustainable management of river and stream basins, and models for developing bamboo forests combined with ecotourism were also shared openly and practically.
Alongside professional exchange activities, the Phongsaly Provincial Delegation conducted a series of extensive field surveys. The delegation directly visited agricultural production models and models of production and consumption linkages for characteristic agricultural products in the communes of Yen Chau, Phieng Khoai, Mai Son, Chieng Mai, and Chieng Mung, and Chieng Sinh ward; they also explored eco-tourism destinations, commercial centers, and spaces showcasing and displaying OCOP products of Son La province. Through these visits, the delegation acknowledged and highly appreciated Son La province's innovative solutions in promoting agricultural economic development linked to the promotion and consumption of local products.

The working trip concluded successfully, achieving all the set objectives and contents. The head of the delegation from the Agriculture and Environment sector of Phongsaly province expressed his appreciation and high regard for the warm welcome, the close fraternal feelings, and the support and favorable conditions provided by Son La province. The results achieved from the trip not only brought valuable practical lessons for both localities but also further nurtured the great friendship and special solidarity between Son La and Phongsaly, ensuring it remains ever-lasting and enduring.
