On June 24th, the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Son La province, organized a workshop on green and circular agriculture to meet international requirements and promote trade and investment in green agricultural products in Son La province.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Nguyen Tri Ngoc, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and businesses and cooperatives operating in the field of agricultural production and processing.
Delegates discussed the direction of green agricultural development in Son La province.
The workshop focused on key areas of green and circular agricultural production, such as: the role of local authorities in promoting green transformation; opportunities and challenges for Son La province in operating a circular economy in agricultural production; the application of biological products in the remediation and restoration of degraded land; the production of some agricultural products in an organic, low-emission manner according to VietFarm standards; and the impact of climate change in guiding farmers to adapt to changes in agricultural production.

The presentations at the workshop proposed several solutions for the development of agriculture in Son La province, focusing on green transformation and green production to reduce carbon emissions; enhance competitiveness, create high added value for agricultural products, and integrate agricultural production with the international economy. The assessment of the potential for green agricultural development in Son La province focused on the following directions: organic agriculture; circular economy; low-carbon agriculture; digital transformation in agriculture and agricultural tourism…

The Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development to continue supporting the development of the province's agricultural development orientation in the coming years. Cooperatives need to study the achievements in research and application of organic production processes in green transformation, improving production efficiency, agricultural product value, and product competitiveness. They should strictly adhere to regulations on agricultural production that do not cause deforestation, in order to meet international standards and contribute to sustainable agricultural development.
