As part of his working visit to Luang Prabang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, on June 26th, Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Son La province, along with his delegation, visited and surveyed several cultural heritage sites, typical tourist destinations, and cooperation projects between Son La province and Luang Prabang.

The delegation visited the Luang Prabang Royal Palace Museum, one of the most representative cultural, historical, and spiritual landmarks of Laos. Built in 1904, it was once the residence of the Laotian royal family and now houses many valuable artifacts reflecting the history and culture of the Land of a Million Elephants throughout various periods. In particular, the museum preserves the Golden Buddha statue of Prabang – a sacred national treasure, a symbol of the culture and beliefs of the Laotian people.

Next, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Luang Prabang Province, a building constructed with aid from Son La Province totaling 5 billion VND, combined with matching funds from Luang Prabang Province. The building has two floors and a total construction area of 820 m². The project not only meets the infrastructure requirements for local foreign affairs but also demonstrates the special solidarity, traditional friendship, and unwavering bond between Son La and Luang Prabang.

The high-level delegation from Son La province learned from Luang Prabang province's experience in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values in conjunction with tourism development. This activity contributed to strengthening exchanges and sharing experiences in the fields of culture, tourism, and foreign affairs, further consolidating and fostering the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; and bringing the cooperative relationship between Son La province and Luang Prabang province to a deeper, more practical, and effective level.

As part of their work program, tomorrow morning (June 27th), the high-level delegation from Son La province will hold talks and sign a cooperation agreement for the period 2026-2029 with Bo Keo province.
