On June 26, 2026, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province issued document No. 1888/SVHTT&DL - QLBCXB regarding information, propaganda, and participation in the 12th National Award for External Information.
The National Award for External Information (abbreviated: External Information Award) is an award launched by the Central Steering Committee on External Information Work, chaired by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department (the permanent agency of the Central Steering Committee on External Information Work), in coordination with relevant agencies and units. The award is held annually to affirm the important role and position of external information work in the political, ideological, and foreign affairs work of the Party, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws on external information, and firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation. At the same time, it honors authors and groups of authors with outstanding works and products. Encouraging collectives and individuals to innovate and improve the quality of external information work, strengthening coordination among agencies, units, and localities, leveraging the combined strength of the entire political system, and the active participation of the people, the Vietnamese community abroad, and international friends.
Eligible participants for the Award:All Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and foreigners are eligible to submit works/products related to foreign affairs information to the Award. Each author or group of authors may submit a maximum of 10 works/products related to foreign affairs information to the Award, in accordance with the regulations. Members of the Award Council, Organizing Committee, Secretariat, Final Judging Panel, and Preliminary Judging Panel are not eligible to participate in the Award.
Award Categories:(1) Vietnamese newspapers/magazines; (2) Foreign-language newspapers/magazines; (3) Radio; (4) Television; (5) Books; (6) Photos; (7) Digital products - multimedia; (8) Initiatives and products with foreign information value.
Eligibility requirements for the Award:
- The works/products, activities, and events considered for the Award this year are those published, distributed, or announced through mass media; or activities and events organized domestically and internationally, between July 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026. For works/products published before or after the aforementioned dates, at least two-thirds of the time and quantity of the works/products must have been published within the specified period.
- Works/products that have already won awards in other competitions are still eligible for consideration, but must clearly state the award level achieved, along with information about the organizing unit and the time the competition took place.
- Works/products submitted to the Award must not infringe on copyright and must not be subject to any copyright disputes.

Award Structure:There will be 1 Special Prize (shared across all categories); 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 5 Consolation Prizes for each category. The Awards Council may decide on other forms of recognition for participating teams/individuals who have made positive contributions (with specific criteria for selection). The number of awards will be determined by the Awards Council based on the actual quality and quantity of submitted works/products.
