Reporting at the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son stated: In 2023, economic diplomacy continued to be strengthened based on the implementation of Directive No. 15 dated August 10, 2022, of the Party Central Committee on economic diplomacy serving national development until 2030. Economic cooperation, market expansion, and attracting high-quality investment capital were key focuses in foreign affairs activities, especially high-level diplomacy. Besides leveraging existing free trade agreements, Vietnam proactively and actively participated in new economic linkages, promoting cooperation with many potential partners.
In 2024, economic diplomacy will focus on three key tasks: consolidating traditional growth drivers and effectively exploiting new growth drivers; enhancing efficiency and innovation in research, advisory, and forecasting; and improving the effectiveness of economic diplomacy and the coordinating role of the Steering Committee for Economic Diplomacy.
At the conference, heads of Vietnamese representative offices abroad and delegates presented important papers, sharing new trends in investment, trade, innovation, the potential of the semiconductor industry, new regulatory standards in traditional markets; opportunities and challenges in newly explored markets; enhancing coordination in implementing economic diplomacy, expanding export markets and building brands for Vietnamese goods; and information on the requirements for attracting foreign investment in the new situation.
