On May 3, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province offered incense to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap and heroic martyrs at the historical site of Ban Nhot forest, Gia Phu commune, Phu Yen district and offered incense and flowers to commemorate heroic martyrs at the historical site of Co Noi crossroads, Mai Son district.

Co Noi Junction is the intersection of National Highway 37 and National Highway 6, located in Co Noi Commune, Mai Son District, and is the “throat” of the marching route during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The blood of countless cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers and people was shed at this “fire coordinate”, contributing to writing the immortal epic of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory that “resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world”.

The Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the two districts promote the historical value of the relics, turning the two relic sites into red addresses to educate patriotism and revolutionary traditions for the younger generation. At the same time, there should be specific solutions to protect the landscape, security and order at the relic sites, in order to attract a large number of tourists to visit the Son La tourist route.
