To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), on May 3, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province offered incense to commemorate General Vo Nguyen Giap and the heroic martyrs at the historical site of the Nhot forest area, Gia Phu commune, Phu Yen district, and offered incense and flowers to commemorate the heroic martyrs at the Co Noi Crossroads historical site, Mai Son district.

Attending the incense offering ceremony were Comrade Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; and the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Phu Yen and Mai Son District Party Committees.

The Co Noi intersection, where National Highway 37 and National Highway 6 meet, is located in Co Noi commune, Mai Son district. It served as a crucial strategic point on the march during the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The blood of countless cadres, soldiers, volunteer youth, and civilians was shed at this "fire zone," contributing to the immortal epic of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, renowned throughout the world and shaking the earth.

In Phu Yen district, in a solemn atmosphere, delegates expressed their profound respect, remembrance, gratitude, and appreciation for General Vo Nguyen Giap, an outstanding disciple of President Ho Chi Minh, an exceptional commander of the heroic Vietnamese People's Army, who dedicated his entire life to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.

The Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province pledge to study and emulate General Vo Nguyen Giap, forever following the path chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and our people. They will excellently continue the glorious revolutionary cause and the invaluable legacy of previous generations.
The Provincial Party Secretary suggested that the two districts promote the historical value of the relics, turning the two sites into important locations for educating the younger generation about patriotism and revolutionary traditions. At the same time, specific solutions should be implemented to protect the landscape and maintain security and order at the relic sites, aiming to attract more tourists to visit along the Son La tourism route.
