On May 16th, in Son La province, the Son La Provincial People's Council and the People's Councils of Bokeo, Phongsaly, and Oudomxay provinces (Lao People's Democratic Republic) held a meeting to exchange experiences on the work of the People's Councils.

Attending the talks from Son La province were: Nguyen Thai Hung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Cha A Cua, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and heads of the committees of the Provincial People's Council.
For the provinces of our neighboring country Laos, we have the following comrades: Chom Si Lat Ta Na Pan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Bokeo Province; Thong Si Sau Si Phom, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Phong Saly Province; Kham Phon Phim Ma Chan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Udom Xay Province, along with leaders, officials, and specialists from the People's Council committees of the three provinces.

In an atmosphere of warm solidarity and special friendship, Comrade Nguyen Thai Hung expressed his joy and excitement at welcoming the delegation of the People's Councils of the neighboring provinces of Laos to visit and exchange experiences on the work of the People's Councils. He also shared with the delegations some experiences and solutions to improve the quality of the review of reports, projects, and draft resolutions submitted to the People's Council sessions within the areas under the responsibility of the provincial People's Council committees.
From the beginning of the 2021-2026 term to the present, the Son La Provincial People's Council has held 26 sessions; the committees of the Provincial People's Council have reviewed 124 draft resolutions and 29 reports of the Provincial People's Committee and judicial agencies on economic, social, national defense and security, transportation, construction, natural resources and environment, education, health, culture, and local government building...

The committees of the Provincial People's Council conducted surveys, gathered information, and studied reference materials to support the review process. They identified several inappropriate aspects in the reports and draft resolutions submitted by the Provincial People's Committee, providing a basis for the Provincial People's Council representatives to study, discuss, and decide on the issues at the session. Most of the committees' review findings were accepted by the Provincial People's Committee. The methods and approaches used by the committees in the review process ensured that the work was on the right track and met the requirements of the Provincial People's Council in the new situation.

During the meeting, the delegations from the People's Councils of Bokeo, Phongsaly, and Oudomxay provinces expressed their gratitude for the warm and cordial reception from the People's Council of Son La province. They also provided an overview of the organizational structure and the recent review and supervision activities of their respective People's Councils. They hoped that the People's Council of Son La province would share and exchange experiences on issues related to the organization, duties, and powers of the People's Councils; the inspection and supervision of the implementation of resolutions from People's Council sessions; the decision-making and supervision of the implementation of local socio-economic development plans; and the advisory and support work for the activities of the People's Councils. They requested that the People's Council of Son La province facilitate and support the training and professional development of officials and delegates from the People's Councils of the provinces.
Delegates took a commemorative photo at the headquarters of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and several departments and agencies of Son La province.
