On the evening of May 18th, at the 8/5 Square in the administrative center of Moc Chau district, Son La province, a solemn ceremony was held to announce the decision recognizing Moc Chau as a National Tourist Area. The program was broadcast live on STV, Son La Radio and Television Station, and rebroadcast on the Son La Newspaper's online platform.

Attendees included: Tong Thi Phong, former member of the Politburo and former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of several central ministries and agencies; committees and councils of the National Assembly; leaders of several provinces and cities; representatives of embassies of several countries in Vietnam; and leaders of 9 provinces in Northern Laos.

On April 22, 2024, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed Decision No. 1077/QD-BVHTTDL recognizing Moc Chau National Tourist Area in Son La province. This recognition as a National Tourist Area will create significant momentum for Son La province in general, and Moc Chau and Van Ho districts in particular, to continue striving to develop tourism in the area, affirming its position on the world tourism map and befitting its status as a national tourist area.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Ms. Trang Thi Xuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: To ensure that Moc Chau National Tourist Area develops to its full potential as a national tourist area, affirming its position on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world, Son La province will continue to focus resources on investing in infrastructure, technical facilities, and tourism services; improve and enhance the criteria already achieved by the national tourist area; promote digital transformation and develop smart tourism applications; and strengthen promotional activities to enhance the tourism brand as "A leading regional natural destination in the world." The development of Moc Chau National Tourist Area will align with Vietnam's tourism development strategy, becoming one of the leading tourist areas in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region and one of the key national tourist areas nationwide.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of commendation to the Standing Committee of the Moc Chau and Van Ho District Party Committees for their many achievements in building and developing the Moc Chau National Tourist Area.

Following the awarding of the Decision recognizing Moc Chau National Tourist Area to Moc Chau and Van Ho districts by the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, an art program themed "Moc Chau, Van Ho - The Beautiful Highlands" took place. The program featured nearly 450 artists and performers from the Provincial Music and Dance Theatre; students from Son La College; and performers and key figures in the amateur arts scene from Moc Chau district and Son La city.

The artists and performers presented a spectacular and elaborately staged comprehensive art program, with the theme of praising the homeland of Moc Chau and Van Ho; honoring the beauty of the land, culture, and people of this region; expressing the aspiration for the development of Moc Chau National Tourist Area today; and hoping to further develop Moc Chau and Van Ho to become a national tourist area, providing exciting and deeply impressive experiences for the people and tourists.
