(Chinhphu.vn) – With 472 out of 473 National Assembly delegates voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a Resolution electing General To Lam, Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Public Security, as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

The National Assembly has passed a resolution electing General To Lam, member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the term 2021-2026.
At its 7th session, held on the morning of May 22nd, the National Assembly proceeded to elect the President of the Republic.
With 472 out of 473 National Assembly delegates voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a resolution electing General To Lam, member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.
After being elected, the new President took the oath of office as prescribed.

"Under the sacred red flag with a yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters nationwide, I, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, solemnly swear: To be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to strive to fulfill the duties entrusted to me by the Party, the State, and the People," President To Lam declared in his oath.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, President To Lam delivered a speech to the National Assembly.
